I've been planning for the last two year a trip of doing a loop of 1000 km (600 miles) in 24 hour  I know it sounds crazy  but I don't see it as a race but a matter of doing it
Among my friends and brothers, only one person is interested in doing it
I'm planning of doing it on saturday the 7th of february, leaving at 06:00 and expecting to be back at around 04:00 on sunday morning  What do you guys think and do you have any recommendations or suggestions. Thanks 8)

I did 270 miles a couple of years ago in one day and I was really really tired at the end. But 600 miles in one day? I think your body will break down before the Warior. Good luck though and let us know how it goes.

My best day was 495 miles in 16 hours. You have to have good trail to make high miles. The trick is not to BS on trail is to keep riding. When eating lunch no BS eat and go. Ride tank to tank of gas no stopping and fast bathroom stops. You have to look at it this way if a guy takes off 10 minutes ahead of you. You will not see him all day long. You don't have to ride, hard and fast just keep going. I did 3700 miles 12 days. (Later)
535 miles in 17 hours is my best.
Good luck!

No problem...especially in Quebec.
Wow Warrior..that's a good day!!
Ok guys...
North Bay,On to Timmins,On...about 550 Kms (340 Miles) each way. Took us 10.5-11 hours each way including gas, lunch etc. If you really want to utilize your time...bring a submarine sandwich cut into 4's.....makes a great snack
Easy ride...mind you we had great trails all the way. Typically...we would consider an easy day for us to be about 325 Kms (200 miles).

The group I ride with consists of 4 guys and we will leave in the morning at 7AM and be back to to motel by 5PM and we usually put on anywhere from 375 miles to just under 500 miles a day. We will do this for 6 day straight. We don't ride after dark that is when we party!!

that doesnt sound too bad as long as the trails are good, a buddy of mine had a group of 12 guys that left murdochville in the mountains of gaspe and made it to presque isle maine in 15 hrs for a total of 501 miles, with just a couple guys that would be easy i think, very often go 300 miles in just daylight 8 to 9 hrs not hard at all,600 miles in 24 hrs is only 25 mph average so you could do 300 miles sleep for 6hrs another 300 miles and home with 2 hrs to spare

Hi
Last Saturday TSHELVER and I did 288 easy miles without really pushing hard. I don't think we started until close to 9:30 or 10:00, stopped for close to an hour for lunch, took a couple short breaks during the ride, and took a break during our last gas stop. We were still back at the house at around 9:00 or 9:30. I estimate we had less than 9 hours of actual riding. It seemed like we were always moving pretty hard, but it still only averages out to 32 mph. We might have had even less seat time, resulting in a little higher average speed. Now think about a 15 hour day at 40 mph...thats 600 miles.
A couple years ago a friend and I did two 339 mile days, on a variety of trail conditions, but about half of each day was on miserable single track ungroomed trails. We rode about 18 hours each day. (Trip was from Swanzey, NH to back lake, Pittsburg, NH). We will be doing a similar trip this year if the south end of the state gets any snow. Anyway, the way we did it was to KEEP MOVING. We ONLY stopped for gas, and grabbed something quick to eat while there. No waiting...gas up, grab a hot dog, and suck it down while paying for the gas and dog. Jump on the sled and go. NO exceptions.
Think about the numbers now. If you ride at a trail speed average of 50 mph for 5 hours, thats 250 miles. Now factor in 2 gas stops in that time, even quick ones will be 10 minutes each. You are already down to 233 miles in those 5 hours. Factor in a couple quick stops to check a map or read trail signs, for a total of 10 minutes over 5 hours. Now you lost another 8 minutes. You can see...its easy to say "oh yea, I can do 50 mph for 12 hours" but once you factor in all of the necessary stops, the numbers don't look so good.
I'm going to try to beat my personal best and hit 400 miles this coming Saturday if my sled is ready. Maybe I'll do more, but we'll see.
Oh, another thing...have ONE other rider with you. That helps you move at a better pace. Go by yourself and you don't make as good time. Go with a larger group, and there is more chance of someone having to stop for a pee break, rest stop, or whatever, and you get slowed down too much.

nhrxrider....good luck on you 400 mile day ,should be no problem, you ever ride in quebec ? we're heading from northern maine down to below montreal starting the 6th of feb,was wonder how the trails are down theat way, general idea,we went as far as quebec city last year and they were really good til the 2 days of snow came and piled on 36 inches of the white stuff,i live in washburn about 100yards from the rr bed, going north there is a stretch that is25 miles long with only 4 road crossings 1 trip is 50 miles and you can average 80mph easy,if you could deal with the same old trail for 20 trips or so that would be the way to set a new high record for yourself, anything happens your only 25 miles from the house at the most, while you took supper break and a nap they could groom to make the ride nice and smooth ,watch out for the deer tho they are yarding up just outside of town
