well i finally got a chance to see first hand the all mighty 800r,we raced 4 times, whoever hit the gas first got a sled length on the other guy but i just played with it on top, anything over 115 on my dreameter away i went,it does pull good from 0-110 but after that it falls off quite bad, this sled is broken in and has had some pin weight added and it the faster of the 2 that were there but no top end,i rode it for a few miles of rolling fields and few big corners, fun to drive hard but cant relax and ride ,too twitchy for me,didnt really notice the vibration but didnt have it in my hands long enough i guess

170plus,

Let us know what have you done to your sled...any mods or are you stock? Do both sleds have studs or not? What kind of conditions were you running on? Fill us in a bit more... :4STroke: .

nice job 170plus, well with the extra weight of the yamaha, that doesn't say to much for the xp 800r, with all the light weight components of the doo it should have been faster, i never liked doo, thought they always put out junk

haha. Yea I have a buddy with an REV 800 HO in a 440 race chasis, geared down to 23 with an 1.75" track. That thing is ridiculiously fast off the line. We lined up and he pulled away from me everytime, but top end i can rip by him no problem as I hear his rev limiter hit at 80 MPH!! lol

At a rolling pace (30-50 mph) he has no chance either. Playing with him on the trail the whole day is great....I'm loving it. haha

Come on Snow Gods!!!! we need some snow!

I own an 07 Apex RTX and an 08 REV XP 800r. I would agree with the drag race results. The doo gets the hole shot but the Apex will walk away on top end. I ride both sleds equally and prefer the Apex for the comfort factor. The doo's rear suspension is much better though. One thing I notice is the sound difference. The doo sounds like a hunk of ***** while the Apex just sings sweet songs all day long. The doo does feel like a motocross bike through the woods. It lifts the skis and hauls. Turning is not its favorite thing. The Apex will carve circles around it.

That doo is pretty fast. Hole shot winner will usually win the race though. I rode my buddies 800R and at 85 mph I could jump on the back end and pin the throttle and the skis would come up.

I honestly think I could flip that thing over backwards at 35 mph if I tried hard enough. The combination of light weight, weight dispersment, and engine power will get it done.

They do gain a lot of power afther they break in. Before break in, the Apex will beat it pretty good usually. They are really close after break in.

the conditions were good, rrbed with some meal on it in spots and smooth and hard in others,we never run from zero at all but were rolling about 10mph,im pretty sure the 800r was stock other than a little clutch work and a shorter than factory ultimax belt(factory belt had too much deflection and was slipping down low).my sled has "most of the stock components",basically the only thing my sled has on it now that it didnt come from the factory with is the new track and different wheels,i have lots of little things done like holes in bottom 1/2 of air box, gutted exhaust, cut clutches but stock weights and helix and springs,i am running an ultimax belt but i think i get better topend from the 8dn but more testing with the weights /rivet combinations once the trails get hard again will tell,we just got blasted with a fresh 8" storm today that fell in about 6 hours, not complaining a bit because it will sure top off the trails in good shape
