I would not be so quick to discount all these claims of weak or faulty Nytro A-arms as a bunch of B.S.
Sure - there are lots of mixed opinions about the design, and yes - some guys are going to smash up, riders fault in those cases. The other guys, who are convinced they were not doing much of anything and have damage to show for it - may actually be onto something.
I was out with some friends over Christmas week in NY. They were on their new Nytros. 1st ride of the season - 20 miles, just breaking them in. We stopped at a water bar. We could see tracks were going around to the right side. We each crawled our sleds around the water to the right - 5mph is pretty accurate. It was a little choppy, wet and snirt as most water bars are in the early season.
My buddies bumped his right ski with the bars were turned to the left, just as I did with my Attak and the other 5 sleds with our group. His lower A-Arm was tweaked back at least an inch maybe more.
We've all been riding for many years. I can assure you that we were not riding hard. The sled was not in 2 feet of powder at 30 mph hitting stumps. I was very surprised that it caused any damage. I would have been pissed if my sled did this, considering the circumstances.
This may really be a flaw in the design, depending in the angle of the pressure put on the a-arm. There is no visible damage from the impact to the ski, spindle, a-arm, etc.
There are way to many similar accounts of this across the internet to say its all BS. Yamaha may not admit the issue but Don't be surprised to see a new design on these sleds next year.

That is why Yuji pilots a stock sled in snocross, to improve on what yamaha has designed. I don't think that yamaha would let their reputation slide on having the best fit and finish. If there is a design flaw you can bet yamaha will address it.

I agree with the best fit & finish and I hope Yamaha will address the problem if they can pin point it.
I love my Attak and I'm very happy my Yamaha. I made the switch from ski-doo. In fact, BRP may it easy for me. They had lots of motor problems with their/my 800's in 03,04,etc. It was a known crank seal issue. Replaced twice under recall but it eventually destroyed my stock motor and crank, it was just out of waranty and they would not do a damn thing for me. Was brand loyal for almost 20 years. I doubt I will ever go back.
Problems are always going to be there from time to time. It's what the mfg's & dealers do about those problems that seperated them from the competition, at least for most folks.
With Yamaha - all I'm saying is there MAY be a real issue. There are a lot of nay sayers out there. I've seen it first hand and have to agree with the others that are concerns about this.

He must have hit that bar doing 50mph, and with 800 lbs of weight behind it, something has to give. He was probably coming down from a ten foot jump doing a nose dive too!! I can't believe that story. Is he looking for some free parts from Yamaha because he doesn't have insurance? Probably his first time out riding. Probably hit 20 stumps before he hit that water bar!!!! Liar! Liar!

I really have a hard time believe that traveling 5 mph someone ran over a "bump" and tweaked the A-arms. So far I've had mine on some super whooped trails on Tug and have no damage. Now I'll be the first to admit that they need stronger bars if I see it, but I've been on trails that have broken two torsion springs in two different Rev's and haven't seen anything wrong with my arms.
My front end has gone over enough chop to make the toolkit in my front end eat through the bag and now I'm going to have to paint inside this spring.
I can only see damage being done if you hit something under the snow and your a-arm comes to a complete or at least partial stop.

psychosledder - your post was actually pretty funny - LOL. I would have written somthing like that myself if I had not seen this with my own eyes.
Yamahnator - I would not say this is a bump (up & down) thing. I would describe it as a bump to the side of the ski at a 45# angle. I think that is the weak spot.
Anyway - It happened!
Now back to jumping water bars on my Attak @ 50mph with psychosledder!

Besides your post, the only other one I've heard of that doesn't admit to hitting anything is Spartans. And I spend way too much time reading sledding posts. Plus there are a 20 times more guys posting riding the piss out of theirs without having this alleged problem. Not to mention the fact that of course the infamous one first stated he hit something.

After driving in some pretty bad swampy areas with deep snow and a lots of debris underneath and taking some BAD hits on the frontend, the machine took it all. I am amazed!

When we're talking about the a-arms, have any of you discovered any slack in the upper a-arm bushings(spelling?)?
Found this slack on a brand new(!) rtx and my own rtx(nearly 300km).

Maybe I just haven't hit anything hard enough, but my a-arms are in gorgeous shape still.
