I have the Yamaha A-Arm protectors for my Nytro XTX. I was about to instal them today, but when holding them up under the A-Arm, it looks like they will rub on the rubber boot on the steering arm. To those who have them installed, is this an issue? Or once the protector is tightened up, does it stay clear? I searched but could not locate a picture taken from above the arm to see what the clearance/final installation looks like.

I have them on my 2010 - no issue at all and great protection - there's a number of scuffs on mine so I'm glad they're there! About the only additional thing I did on install was wrap a bit of electrical tape around the pressure points from the plastic to try and keep my paint from rubbing off.

just a little tip. if you do oftrail riding clear out some of the snow that they gather while riding. its easier to clear it out as dust than it is as a clump of frozen stuck together snow. a simple wipe with your glove helps the next morning if the sled isn't kept in a heated garage.

Thanks to you both! The pictures helped a lot!
Filks: Did you have to trim the side against the boot to make them fit there right?

No I didn't have to trim them to make them fit. By looking at mine they actually sit lower than that boot so it shouldn't be a problem (A-arm is lower than the steering arm). If memory serves I had to replace one bolt with a longer one to get the clamp around the thicker part of the A-arm towards the spindle but that's about it. Just to make sure - did you check your part number for your year and model against the Yamaha webpage to make sure you have the proper ones? For my 2010 the webpage says: SMA-8GL91-10-_ _, "_ _" being for the colour. Just throwing it out there since you seem to be having fitment issues.

Ya that is the right part number I have. I will give them a try again tomorrow. I'm sure once I have them on all will be fine. Thanks for the advise!Filks said:No I didn't have to trim them to make them fit. I did end up having to cut an angle off the back of the protector where the rubber boot is. I also had to drill a new screw hole. But after doing that they went on perfect!

Maybe you have a bent subframe causing your rubbing issue.

No the subframe is good. What I'm thinking is I received a set from the first design before they trimmed some of the plastic. From looking at pictures of other protectors mine were not shaped the same way.Grimm said:Maybe you have a bent subframe causing your rubbing issue.
