Has anyone rode both? Are the issues I observed corrected in the Viper?
I have not ridden a Viper but have ridden a couple ProCross versions.Today I spent some time riding a 1100 na SnoPro.Mind you I stepped directly off of my Phazer and onto the Sno Pro.It had stock Skiis with stock offset dualies some picks down middle. So compared to my Phazer.
Cons 12 1100 SnoPro
--------------------------
First thing I noticed is both the feel and effectiveness of the brake is no where near as nice as the one finger brake on Phazer.
It definitly felt front heavy. Not easy to get light in prep for a impact.
Steering effort is much higher than Phazer.
Even though Steering was hard it pushed in corners.
Is not as easy to stand up on than Phazer.
I and the owner of it had just as much or more ski lift as the Phazer
Pros 1100 SnoPro
----------------------
Very quiet machine
Faster than Phazer in a drag or topend race.
Suspension is excellent.Equal or better than my Axis suspension in 1-2' moguls(I didnt hit anything bigger)
The front is not "busy" like Phazer

I am also interested in real info. thru clear glasses.
Rode a 2013 XF 800 LXR I can say WOW. On trail tracked nice and straight, amazing power. Would lift the skis at ? maybe 30/40mph. Off trail took it to about 80 mph, could of went faster but would not want to roll a friends new sled. It handled real good. I would buy one but am wanting a 4stroke. Only con is the starter sounds like a bag of bolts, some have starter problems that cat is working on.
Demo rides past and present. The following is more the Yamaha demo people, not so much the sleds. I feel bad for the dealers.
Spring 2010 road all the 2011 Yamahas. Pros - Apex power, instant acelleration and sound. Hit a small bump while trying to lift skis with XTX and it hooked up so good, thought it was coming over. XTX was the best one off trail, very good.
Cons - 30 below C. Every sled darted bad on trail. Apex SE suspension would not adj, hand warmers did not work and shield plug did not work.
Went home and road my Rage 40 miles when everything was freash in my mine, it handled much, much better.
A month ago rode the 2013 Yamaha's. Ice fog, blowing snow so needed electric shield. One Apex, a venture and 4 nitro's. A bit of trail, but mostly fields. Had my light/tester in pocket so after my first ride tested apex and venture, dealer put in new fuses.
Nitros like always, unruley. Apex darted and jumped around so bad even off trail. Looked it over, not sure what was wrong, if you did have nerve to get speed I was scared to let off for fear it would dump me on decel. Scared the H out of the women. I'm sure there were no sales that day.
These sleds have time between some domo rides and should go into a knowledgeable dealer and get set up checked out as they are not helping the dealers.
SO for this reason I would be in no rush for a demo ride, Just buy it and set it up myself. Kind of a rant but the truth.

You are comparing a phazer to the sno pro? Can you say apples and oranges??

Really?Maybe you should come ride with me sometime. This was a 1100 NA meaning no turbo. So power was not that much more than Phazer. As far as suspension and handling I always thought Phazer was one of the worst since I also ride a SRX.Granted my Phazer isnt stock but I had no trouble keeping up when following and no trouble pulling away when leading anywhere but in a straight line.I didnt blow a belt, leak coolant or use as much gas either.Lets just say the all day ride opened my eyes to how much I like my sled.
What I am looking for is someone who has ridden the Viper AND Procross to see if Yamaha made any improvements to the Cons I noticed.I would not sell my Phazer for the ProCross I rode because of what I observed and until I find the Viper addresses the Cons I observed I will not buy one since as far as I know chassis is the same and Viper is also a 4 stroke.

Cat has the vespel Hifax now as well, looked a bit different, had the insert at roughly a 45 degree angle, several little inserts, that appeared to be the full length not just a 3/4 length. Not sure if it will be better or worse, however the price was something like 40-50 I think. So even if that is per piece it still what 60 less than the Yamaha version?

Thats good news.At lease it will be able to be added to Viper.Anyone see if Viper had the 4 wheel setup like new RR or still the Tri-Hub?
