I'm thinking of adding a rear cooler to my GT for added insurance. I heard of one for the rx-1s. Does anyone know if this will fit on an Apex? I think the part # is 8ET-RHECR-KT? Price is supposed to be $85. Any one have a pic of one installed on an RX-1?

I had one on my Warrior it worked very well. I dont think you will need one with the Apex because of the Combination heat exchngers and small radiator and cooling fan.

I ran last week on hardpack snow and my red light came on twice. I spent more than reasonable time putting snow on the running boards to cool off the engine. As the day went on and the trails got loose, it was not a problen like it was earlier in the day. I have been reading today that Yamaha has been putting 100% antifreeze in the Apex's. I will have to check this when I get a tester. My Warrior had issues the two seasons I had it with the red light coming on. The heat exchangers under the running boards don't do a great job, I always had warm running motors with my Polaris.

I am having trouble with overheating riding with the children on their sleds at speeds around 15 to 20mph on tight trails with hills on my attak . I was able to cool it off filling my running bords with snow but that only lasts about 5 miles...

I also had the warning light come on my attak several times on my 1st ride, especially at slower speeds. I checked to make sure the fan was running too. I am going to check the coolant mixture and rebleed the system and try again. The conditions I rode in would not have been a problem for my 05 rx1.

You dont need a rear cooler.. Drain the antifreeze and replace with WATTER WETTER and a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and watter!

Make sure you run the antifreeze that is recommended by Yamaha otherwise you'll start seeing rubber chunks in your overflow bottle...
