In the latest SnowTech there is a blurb about a add on Yammie made rear cooler. Priced around $42 or so. Does this cooler still allow you to stud? Any pics of this cooler installed by anyone allready?

ricerocket: Contact Kevin @ Port Yamaha. Apex and RX-1 are the same cooler. I run 192 studs without problems.

He will probably have some in stock.

I did one, easy install. Well out of the way of studs, I run 144 single/double up the middle, 700 trouble free miles

Back corner of the tunnel. It will be out of the way on apex short track. The long track (attak) and it takes up over an inch of clearance and the track and studs hit damn hard. The one for the Attak is a very piss poor design. They put them stock on the 06 Rage. They don't take kindly to studs when the suspension uses all of its travel. The Short track you will not have a problem with however.

My 06' RTX had issues on the first two rides. Following that, I checked and adjusted the antifreeze to the correct ratio, it was basically 100%. With my ratio ~50/50, good to about -35* F I have yet to see the light come on. I've ridden in March when it was 58* F outside temp. I was ridding in castle pants a tee shirt and my tek vest of coarse didn't even need gloves. If there was a time for it to overheat this would have been it. In low snow or hard pack I will occasionally head off the trail when I can and get some loose snow in the track, basically no different than you would with any other sled. I personally don't feel you need it unless you find it overheating after all the other checks have been made.
