Advice on a 2007 Apex RTX (suspension and bogie wheels)

Guys,

I know you have been through this and I have tried to read as many posts/threads but it gets rather confusing and thought maybe someone could narrow it down for me and just tell me what to do!

I have a 2007 Apex RTX...my 1st Yamaha...and I really like the sled so far with a few exceptions.
the bogie wheels don't hold up
excessive slide wear
banjo tight track to keep from ratcheting
rear suspension isn't what I expcted
weight transfer

I'm coming from a Cat with over 13,000miles and expect to get the same out of the Apex, but now am I thinking I should have got the GT for the ride quality and adjustability.
I ride in the UP of Michigan, mostly wide sweeping trails so top speed running is nice, but do a fair amount of off-trail boondocking so you get some ruff stuff once in a while. I love to jump my sleds so the suspension needs to take it, I'm not crazy jumping snowpiles but if I see a nice drift or a good mound of snow I'm going to try and air it out as much as possible. Last year I put on about 2800miles....1800 on the Apex.

Right now I have the skid out and want to get it squared away.

What type of bogie wheels should I be putting on to make them last and easy to repair/replace?

What should I do with the rear shocks?
I've seen in mentioned "re-valve" and other shock guru's that will fix'em up for big $$ but I'd like to operate on a shoe-string budget and don't exactly understand what re-valve means or what is needed to get them "re-valved" to get the ride quality that I desire.


It rides stiff as a board through the stutter bumps and the small stuff....I can barely keep from bouncing off of the seat!
Okay through the medium bumps.....but pretty stiff.
Large bumps, and big holes it will bottom out!!
I have tried adjusting everything, the transfer rods, the spring tension, I've adjusted the clickers.....any way I slice it is not what I expected.
I am seriously considering pulling the skid out of my old t-cat (99) and putting it in the Yamaha so it rides decent!!
If I get this suspension sorted out I will look for some advice on weight transfer...since my sled has none!
I don't want to wheelie out of every turn and from every stop sign but I would like to be able to grab a handful when approaching a little hill and pull the skis over it like riding a dirt bike. I know the engine has the power! regardless of the weight of the front end, it should lift the skis and carry it over to the other side.

The short answer, from where I sit, is that the Tcat suspension idea (or whatever your favorite might be) may not be a bad idea.

There's a lot of talk regarding the Proactive CK suspension, and a lot of confusion, sometimes created by people chiming in with their opinions regarding the MONO suspension, which shares absolutely nothing with a Proactive.

oh my......there is alot on that post.
I do have a 99 T-cat skid at home....maybe I will just install that, I know how it works and that it does work.
Anyone know what it takes to put a Cat skid in a Yamaha?
 
Give pioneer performance a call he will explain whats wrong and what he can do to make it better. Not that much coin. I just got back my third set from him. He did my last three sleds. Worth every cent.
 
I just posted on another thread about this topic. I used the Doo wheels and mounting blocks and added an extra set of wheels in front of the large rear wheels. I also changed the hyfax to the narrow slides.
