Aftermarket Exhaust W/O Power Commander?

Quick question. Took my Phazer in for recalls and my mechanic told me I will burn my engine down if I don't have the fuel remapped because I'm running after-market exhaust. Is this true? I thought they run rich to begin with. I spoke with Excell and they said it will not hurt it, but just wanted to get a few opinions. Anyway, any information would help. Thanks in advance.

that sled is bad a$$, if your sled runs good, example doesn't bog out, hesitate and has no top end compared to stock, it will be fine, and my dealer has told me they run rich from factory like every other yamaha

do u have hand warmers?? when i put different bars on i didnt put them back on and it threw a check engine light. im just dealing with the flashing light and code.

I have over 2000 miles with the exhaust (no fuel controller) and had 0 problems. Anywhere from -20 to +50 degrees. If you get into airbox mods as well, then you will probably need one.

i running a yoshimura on mine with out any problems it seem to make it run better i put tag bars and fly risers on my sled to u have to put resitors on each side to get it to not show and code go to radio shack and get some 7 ohm resitors cut the plugs off the stock bars and put the resitors on the plugs the plug them in thats how i did it with no problems so far

thanks for the response, guys. that's what i was looking for..... skyhi - yes, i did reinstall hand warmers. i bought a set from dennis kirk and then soldered it into the old wiring. takes a bit longer to heat the heavier grips, but works perfect otherwise.

i know you can do it to the apex's, can you do it to the phazer's? if so, where do you tie in the paper clip ?

Not sure if you can even do that on a phazer. Reguardless, it is just a low speed (idle) adjustment. It would do nothing for your top end mixture.

i believe u can. theres a plug in down by the starter somewhere you have to do the paper clip trick to.
