Bought my sled used, the guy worked at Yamaha shop and from what I can see all work he did was 100%. He said he did the "air box mod" I Never questioned anything as this sled works 100%, and pulls hard. I have 1500 miles on it myself and 3000 total. So now I been reading up on the K&N kit and find out you need a Fuel Controller to set properly.

Here is the question, I have a 1.5" x 6" hole cut in the lower front side of my air box! It's getting lots of air that's for sure. I'm guessing this may cause the sled to run lean? take in snow dust? what should I do? I don't need answers like your engine will blow up!! I have put 150 mile days at -15C and been in powder all day with no issues. I need to know if I have been lucky and need to address this or just keep an eye on things

Thanks in advance.

no need to worry i did this myself the filter and prefilter are still above that the if you look the original air intake is at the very bottom and is very small. does it have a pipe on it. i gutted my exhaust therefore needed more air

No pipe and I'm sure I checked last year and filter and pre-filter were there.

No snow or snow dust is going to get up there, don't worry. I'm not sure if the mod will lean it out as much as filters would ( filters being alot less restrictive )....only ways to check would be a dyno, an A/F gage or the old fasion way...check your plugs....but even then I doubt you are going to lean out that much to do any damage.

i never thought i needed a fuel controller. by taking out center baffles only and making a bigger hole in stock airbox does anyone know if this is ok it runs great better than before crek plugs as well
