the oil seperator may be the same as oil catch cans used in cars. its quite common on many applications to use a catch can. I know some people who use a water seperator from air compressor lines and they say it works well. i haven't had an issue yet but i've never tipped my machine over more than 90 degrees yet.

The stock Nytro dipstick is ultraconservative and if fill your oil level at full and run at race speeds your motor will puke oil out the breather. Aside from making a mess, it doesn't hurt anything.

Solution; Catch Can?
I am thinking about adding one of these to my Phazer MTX; What do you think?

Yellowknife said:Why does that breather have to go into the airbox anyway, it pushes air out of it...seems like one place you don't want oil to spill is into your intake.

Air Oil Separator
This also might be a solution.

The point here is not normal operation, its when sled is stuck on side and/or upside down. There must be easy way to stop leakage in tilt or rollover situation.

I talked with the head tech/shop manager at my local dealership about this issue.
We came to the conclusion of creating a electric solenoid system.
When powered on the solenoid opens a check valve on the breather. When the system loses power it gets shut off and thus closes the valve.
This would allow the oil tank to breathe while powered on, and close when the engine is shut off.
We haven't gone any further than that discussion, but sounds like a solution.

interesting idea for tip over and stuff......mine puked from just rough trail riding and some jumping. The oil separator looks like a great idea.

I removed the hose from the oil tank and wrapped the outlet with screen (like from a door) and slid the hose back on over the screen. Seems to be working ok lots less oil on the frt. of the engine. 3000miles with this set up.

Mine was doing this, it had me scared at first, but then all I did is drop the oil level to the middle of the add and full mark and now I don't have any oil dip under the sled after it sit in my shop.
Would it work to add a longer line and put 4-5 loops to slow it down long enough to right the sled before it would come out?
just a thought
