I could not get my '05 Vector to fire up after I had summerized by using the 'drain every ounce of gas that you can' method. I swear there is more than 10% ethanol in the blend in Minnesota and it goes bad before the phase of the moon changes.
So, I tried the old rag in the gas filler and try to blow air into it along side. Failed. Then I found the vent line that 'rxrider' outlined back in 2005. (Thank goodness for older posts.) I put a few pounds of pressure into that line, hit the switch and it was running in less than 10 seconds! WOW! that really felt good!. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to RXRIDER!

When the fuel system dries out then the pump will not suck fuel properly from the tank. If my sled does not start within a few seconds I loosen the tank went line mounted to a fitting rear of clutch cover. Blow in the line to pressurize the gas tank, kink the line and wait 10-15 seconds, set chocke at full, crank it. Putting pressure to the tank forces gas into the fuel pumps, now it will pump properly and carbs fill up quickly. It has always worked on all my carbed engines with vacuum pumps. Minor wrenching involved.

I wonder if I was in trouble with only a couple of gallons of new gas in the bottom of the tank? Would a complete fill up alleviate the problem of the pumps not able to pull fuel from the tank?

Have a great day! And, good riding! :4STroke:

It's the simplest way to do it. Everyone argues about their own way, such as spraying starting fluid in the carbs, etc but it's hard to argue with the ease and effectiveness of this method. No disassembly required.

Maybe a little Sta-bil in the tank.....should help with not letting the gas get stale. I like to try and fire mine up a few times in the summer, run it on the stand for a bit. It seems that things like to go to hell when they sit........

I just remove the fuel lines from the carb side of the fuel pumps and pour gas into the carbs float bowls. Reattach the fuel lines and start it up.

I've tried Sta-bil the last two years and it don't work. Years ago it worked great! This re-formulated crap gas just plain sucks. The only thing I found that works consistently is a good quality octane booster. Even with the booster, I still need to blow into the vent tube a little bit if the sled sits for more than 3 weeks.

I tried the vent tube a few times never worked..I wished it would i have to pull a spark plug out put a bit of gas down the cylinder and it fires right up.. I use seam form to keep the carbs clean..But you need fresh gas to keep it going...

Crap Man!?? How do get it going then??

Only at the beginning of every season. After that it fires up right away..At the start of every season it takes 10 min to get it going and then I am good for the season..For some reason the blowing in the vent line doesn't work for me ..

Blowing in the vent line did not work for me either. 2007 RS venture.

I disconnected the lines out of fuel pump to carbs, squirt fuel into each line (I used a saline solution bottle with a tygon tube in the tip...works great), reconnect lines to fuel pumps and she fires right up.

Easy, I hooked up my compressor, put on an inlet nozzle ( looks like a black funnel real small) pulled off the fuel line before the pumps, put the nozzle to the line and blew the pump out and pressurized the line in 3 seconds. She started right up. Should do it this way every time now. I was told 2 different things, a. you'll ruin your pump bladder, nope did not happen. b. you'll put too much strain on the pumps. Nope again. they are working beautifully. And if they act up, I'll buy a kit for 11 bucks each. done and done.

On my Rs venture ( carbs) I disconnect line going into fuel pump and prime it with a outboard motor fuel tank with the bulb on it... fires right up

Star Tron Enzyme fuel treatment. I swear by it have been using it over 10 years. Four stroke Two stroke does not matter.
Anything that sits that I own gets this treatment. Extends carb removal and cleanings dramatically. Not hard to find in stores either. Leave tank full during storage reduces moisture build up. I will siphon off at least half the tank at the beginning of the season on my sleds. I then top off with fresh gas. The siphoned fuel is fine to burn in your car or truck. Along with fuel from your local gas station. I only run non oxy in my 2 stroke but I still put Star Tron in it for the summer.

My RS Venture won't start either after sitting in the summer. I try to start it once a month but if I forget, I just do the rag in the gas tank trick and blow in the tank while cranking. Seems to work. I hope my recently aquired 06 Apex isn't like that. The electric pump for the FI should preasure it up.
