Alatalo's -05 RX-1 ER

I am haveing fun here talking to myself lol NOT ! I did figure out by pics that those are Flyracing bars I just dont know which ones I would also like to know how alatolo like them they look good does anyone else use them

He actually says in his post they are AC bars but hasa fly racing pad so i dont really know

Sorry about the late reply. I have been all over Europe on job trips during the last couple of months and my mobile connection sucks...

The risers are Mountain Machines Performance risers. 6 inch high and clear anodized.
The handlebars are Arctic Cat Firecat/SnoPro handlebars. My favourite bars since seven months ago (used to prefer straight bars). I really need them to muscle the sled around on twisty trails. The Fly handlebars are also quite nice but I think aluminum bars are no good if you want powerful hand warmers.
The pad is a Fly pad simply because it is distributed by the same Swede distributing the Mountain Machines Performance products (www.mtnprod.se). The plan is (was?) to replace it with something more discrete.
The skis are CA Pro race skis with the old style ski loop that is no longer legal in snocross.

Hey he is alive! LOL Glad u dropped by. I really like the Fly bars sno-X style I was thinking of how they would keep warm so i was figureing to put some blow in foam in them to retain the heat at the grips do u think it would work. I will see if i can pick up a set of used cat bars at a show to try. Ur sled looks really good by the way i removed my bumper too 8) and i chromed the front piece that folds with hood it looks cool I also took bumper off to cut it down and form it to front of sled with no space there but i dont know the remoeved look looks good. How do u like the ohlins by the way ? I hope work is good and u get alot of rideing in this winta keep in touch wish i had the means to post pics of my sled But know that may never happen cause it was stolen sunday night :o|

What year firecat bars

If you are an aggressive trail rider I really recommend the Ohlins shocks.
The front shocks are Ohlins 46PRC type which means 46mm piggyback shocks with adjustable rebound damping and adjustable compression damping. They are special-built for this sled only using a snocross style hydraulic setting and spring. The steering response and the bottoming resistance is superior compared to standard.
The rear shock is Ohlins 46PRC3 type which means 46mm piggyback shock with adjustable rebound damping and electronically adjustable compression damping. You can get this shock from any Yamaha or Ohlins dealer. My shock is equipped with the scandinavian setting option (stiffer hydraulic setting and spring). The bottoming resistance is superior compared to standard and the suspension comfort is slightly better than standard. I really like the possibility to adjust the compression damping from the handlebars. This improves the comfort even more since you get the possibility to use different amounts of compression damping for different situations.

The handlebars were purchased as spare part for a -05 Firecat. I think -03 and -04 are the same (at least they look the same).

I do not know if your idea about foam in the handlebars will work. I just know that aluminum handlebars will transport more heat away from the grips than steel handlebars. However, I do not know if you will notice any real-world difference...

How about a little detail on what you did to bastardize those bars? Especially what you did for the grips, and what you used for cables (RX Mountain?)???

Thanks for the info Alatalo I really want to upgrade the stock shocks in the front I am defintely going to a expert X rear suspension! DO u have the price on fronts i will check it out but can only do so much this year lol
I have a chance to buy a set of 02-03 440 sno-pro bars froma guy they look the same from what i can see in ur pics They are green too yuk but i can either paint or wrap them they do come with handwarmers too what do u think He wants $70.00 Thanks Dave

The handlebars and the grips are Arctic Cat Firecat/Sno Pro. The warmers are aftermarket units called Sno Pro (not to be confused with Arctic Cat Sno Pro...). This is the same type of warmer as the standard Arctic Cat warmer (a thin film that is glued on the handlebar before you put the grip on). I am not sure if you can find these in US or Canada ?
Anyway, the Sno Pro aftermarket warmers are 8 Ohm each. When wired in parallel they are the same total 4 Ohm as the standard Yamaha warmers (which are 2 Ohm each and wired in series). Same total resistance = same heat and no problem when connected to the standard Yamaha adjusters.

The throttle cable, choke cable and brake hose are standard. They are just relocated to fit the riser. Same thing with the electronic cables and connectors. Just relocated to fit inside the riser and under the pad. I do not know about the parking brake cable because the parking brake is no longer in the sled.

Regarding the front shocks I think you will get a better answer from a local distributor or from Ohlins USA.

Yes, this is the same rear shock as the Apex GT.
Except for the control unit and possibly the hydraulic setting and the spring.
You can see the Ohlins control unit in one of my pictures.
The Apex GT does not come with this unit since the damping is adjusted from the Yamaha dashboard.
Also, there will be different hydraulic settings and springs depending on where you buy the sled (US/Canada or Scandinavia).

Pureadrenaline, Your avatar is appalling, read the rules!

And Alatalo, I'm not an electronics wiz so could you maybe draw a diagram of how you made the connections on the grips and PM me, Please? I have my bars off at this point.
