Any one running the air lite polymer backers on there studs? I am looking at them because they have a 1/2 inch high for the longer studs .If you go with the aluminum backer you have to buy longer nuts. I just wondering if the plastic was as good? :?

Mike, i dont know anything about the plastic backers but i do know about the longer aluminum nuts. Every time i went out on my RX-1 i would loose 3 or 4 studs. (either bent them or they broke off flush with the regular nut that they come with) I am a real stickler for maintanence and would always replace them after the weekend ride. Well i got sick of doing that and was told about the "BIG-NUTS" from Woodys. after 1200 miles i have not bent or broke not one stud. I think they work great. IMO.

I asked the same question last summer, and everyone said that they would not work, so I used the aluminum backer plates and stainless nuts. I still think they would work. I didn't care about the weight issue, I just liked the look.

They definitely DO work. However, don't rule out another stud option. Mack Studs. My Dad used these so I tried them this year on my RX-1. VERY VERY durable, and they use something similar to the Big Nuts. Check them out, they are better than any Woody's Stud I've used. http://www.mackstud.com/
I have been using plastic backers for 4 years no with no problems. I have had them on a Vmax700 with 144, an 03 RX1 with 196, a REV600 with 144, and a 05 RX1 with 144.
