Just need some advice on the Yamaha brand. I have all kinds of sleds in my life. Never a four stroke. Can anyone tell me about the Apex RTX. I ditchbang, trail ride, fields, etc. Basically all over. All I ever hear is the weight issue with the four stroke. Would it be an issue with the 150 horse power? I am not an aggresiver rider so I'm not worried about jumping and all that. I need something that I can mile out with not a lot of grief. I now own a 2005 rev and it just hasn't been reliable. I would appreciate any advice.

I would recommend you try to get to one of the numerous Yamaha demo rides and see for yourself how the sled is

Do it!!! You will not be disappointed. As far as the weight issue goes lets just say it's been blown waaaaaaaaaaay out of proportion! I agree with RX-1MAN go take a test ride...you'll see!!!

i know aguy that has an apex, his buddy rode a polaris and would never ride his apex. they hit a stop sign once, he physically pushed his buddy off of his polaris, jumped on it and took off so the guy had no choice but to ride the apex and catch up. after that trip the guy traded in the polaris and never looked back! lol... funny story!
the apex is a great all around sled! any sled that gets stuck is heavy! wieght is no problem on these sleds, at least not as bad as everyone makes it sound!
it would be worth the investment and you will not be dissapointed!

I've done 450 miles in a day and that's on my RTX. Got up the next day and took the kids out for another 100 miles. Will never, repeat , never buy a 2 stroke again. Love my Yamaha Apex and until you buy one you will never know why we all boast about them. Go buy one and you will not be unhappy. We ALL guarantee it.
Try out the 08 vector before you buy, its great from corner to corner and will occationally surprise an apex out of the hole. Easilly beats the viper which is no slouch itself.
Plus you get to use the full travel of the flipper, which make the sled easier to control on the trails, the lake is another story, if thats your gig...top end... get the apex and never look back.
Lower initial cost, better fuel mileage and an easy oil change are a few other features on the vector.JMO.

I can't tell you about the Apex but I can tell you that this is the 1st Yamaha that I have ever owned (I used to be one of the yama-teasers shhh don't tell anyone) I can state that I have had this 4 stroke for 1200 + miles and I can't see a reason ever to ride a 2 stroke again (there's no point).
I would say that they are a bit heavier than a 2s But thats all they have over the 4 strokes now.
"Please note that the following is MY OPINION not yours"
If I were a Ditch banger 1st everything else 2nd I would check out the following sleds (In order) XP, Nytro, Dragon, or F-cats.
If reliability is 1st it would be (In order) Yamaha, Polaris, Cat, Doo
If 4s is 1st it would be (in order) Yamaha, Cat, Polaris Hmmm I will consider the new 4stroke from doo in about 3 years after they're proven.
So I would have to agree with Rx-1 man try them. I DARE YOU because if you do you too will become a YAMANUT.

Thrilled with my 06 Apex. Still prolly the most sexy looking sled on snow (MHO)

Reliaible, Well built and a blast to ride . I moved from a RMK and was worried about weight too. When you are in deep they are ALL heavy. Riding my TRX1 I really do not notice the weight much at all.
I would not go back!

Yes, you read that right, Hondo has thirty tha tha tha tha thousand miles on his Yamaha. This is my second season on the Apex. I came over from Arctic Cat and my last sled I rode before the Apex was an F7. I am sure if I switched mid-season I may have noticed the weight more but I started a new season on the Apex so there wasnt a big change to deal with overnight. The weight is distibuted very well and is not an issue. I tell you what...I would do it again in a heartbeat. I love this sled. No oil to add, no smoke to deal with and you can pin the throttle and not worry about it blowing up. IMO there are a couple of areas where the the Rev will out do the Apex but the Apex is not far behind. One thing you will notice is although the Apex is a rider forward sled...it is not as rider forward as your rev is. IMO the Apex wont be as good as a "ditchbanging" sled as the Rev is either. The Rev probably handles the bumps a bit better than the Apex will also. That being said...once you dial in the suspension of the Apex you wont be disappointed with it. You need to find someone with an Apex and ride it. The sound, the arm pulling power and ride is awesome.

I seriously cannot imagine riding a 2 stroke again. Given that, there is no doubt in my opinion that Yamaha makes the best 4 strokes for my riding style, which sounds a lot like yours. Like everyone else here says, ride one. Most of the people that bash them have never ridden one, and if they have and they still bash... They're lying.
