An other Newb. Jumping to the dark side from Doo!

Ya, it's been a good machine, would like to see the odo hit 10,000 this year then sell it...buy something new for next season...just don't know what yet.

You will love the Nytro...once you get used to it.

I let my bud ride my XTX a couple weeks ago and I rode his 800R shorty. When he got off the XTX his exact words were "HOLY CRAP! This thing is like riding a crotch rocket!"

No grant it, the 800 will pull it on top end, the Nytro actually feels like it has more power when you are in and out of the throttle.

Revster, your love affair with the Nytro seems to be on the rocks. LOL. Like I've said before it's the best and the worst sled I've owned and at last count my Nytro was the 29th! I agree with you that the sled I have now should have been the one Yamaha sold me in the first place!!!

When I come in from riding my Nytro I'm in love with the sled and when I come in from the garage I've fallen back in hate with it.

I love the engine, ergos even the handling doesn't bother me.... and I am slowly working thru the issues. I now have warm hands very little ice build up new starter relay, new fuel relay ect ect.

I think you guys are right, long term I'm sure this sled will end up costing me less, it's just been a rough first season.

But larger wheels are at the top of the list for next year.

bandit we should get out for a ride before the snow is gone.

Revster I have the same feelings as you, this is my first season on the Nytro coming off a Dragon with 8800 care free KM and not sure if I want to spend more$ on it or sell and go DOO.
I sold my dragon as I did not want to do a top end but here over a G note into the Nytro to get it were I like it I could have done my top end. Luv the engine and I can keep up with pretty much anyone on the trails but honestly off trail and ditch banging you do feel the weight.
So here we are coming to the last month of riding and not sure if I want to keep it and put more $ into it or sell it?

Yeah it's so much to invest out of the box. When I found out that I was into a used Nytro for more then a friend paid for a new Assault it made me feel sick.

I don't think I'd be able to own a Nytro without:

OFT roll over valve
Roest skid plate
OFT tunnel block off and exhaust that allows complete closure of tunnel
RSI hand warmers or Yamaheater
Grizztrack subframe braces
MTX cooler
Extro drivers
...and now larger and added wheels
...and I'm going to need an anti-stab kit

Everything on that list is over and above what I would normally add to a sled.

HOWEVER now that all of those things are done or close to being done I'm putting all my faith in the engine. Because if that engine lasts like it should then I will be happy long term. Burning up sliders is better then burning up topends!

Ontario had a big meltdown in the ladder part of last week. Now that its all tightened up, it't the firm crusty snow everywhere. This is one time I will miss the lightweight sled. My gade could stand on end anywhere from a 30mph start and under. But again, I did do a bit of trail to get to places. And can't hold my sled at a steady throttle anywhere. 1 tnt blew up and 1 800r. The few 4 smokes there were have nooo worries.

That's a sweeeet shot! I do miss the way my XRS would stand on it's tail like that. But my Nytro still does ok in the right snow.

Alright Revster. I'm making my way through the thread of your build. Looks like A LOT of your build is exactly what I had in mind. So I do have a couple questions on pricing and how they work.

- MTX heat exchanger... I didn't know that they had an extra one, but I did know I would maybe need some extra cooling. How much can you find one for?

-Post re-locater... Haven't rode a Nytro enough to know if the ergos need this to make them better. Was it worth it?

-Here's a big one.... The bulkhead is much different than a Doo thats for sure. So where and how do I re-inforce this?? I know I would bend it without.

-Those Yammy racing tunnel braces look pretty mean, do they perform as good as they look?

-Jake break... This sounds kewl. How does it work, how much was it, and was it worth it?

-I've asked this once, I'll ask again. The 1.75-2" track fits no problem without the tunnel protectors right?

-Theres to many intakes to choose from, did the K&N make a difference?

- I know I need the role over valve, how much and how is this to install?

I'm not finished going through your thread yet, so I'll likely have more questions later. Sounds like you might be a big help to me this summer. Maybe some reviews on how the sled has been this winter? Thanks ;)!

I can say without those Yammie racing braces we cracked the tunnel....

Good to know. My XP with the cheap OEM braces is bent down a lot. I've bent them back up a couple times in the garage but it doesn't get me anywhere after an other week of use :exc:

1.75 and 2" will fit no problem without the tunnel protectors in. A 2" challenger that is notched will fit with the tunnel protectors too.

Well my 08 Nytro was suppose to save me money, on the good old two stroke problems, sold my reliable Polaris 600xcsp to get the Nytro. I have spent so much money making this Yamaha work well I could buy my Polaris back with Nytro mod money! Now Ive got 2500 miles on it and oil in the coolant, so much for Yamaha's bullet proof motor!! Still dont know whats causing that, mabey head gasket?? And I only ride trails! Never had it over 75mph!! The exhaust donuts are shot, lower ball joints toast, belt fried, new skis to make it handle, bigger windshield so you dont freeze, and a Yamaheater to make the grip heat work. Oh cant forget the front suspension bushing kit from Ulmer to replace factory plastic junk. Im begining to think a gallon of 2 stroke oil a year isnt as expensive as owning a Yamaha Nytro! Im thinking doo???

Now you're in the same situation I was in last spring. Except I didn't have oil in my coolant. I don't like the sound of that at all...

Arrgh! That's a question I should've asked. I'm in the middle of installing a 1.75" Backcountry, and I HATE the thought of cutting of my tunnel protectors. I had planned on reinstalling the 1.25" with studs if conditions get icy in the spring.

Just take a really sharp knife and notch it over the clips. You'll only have to cut off like 1/4" I think, since I thought I read guys were running the 1.5" Intense with the protectors and it cleared everything...barely
