Is it worth it?

I have finally been able to get my RX-1 setup to ride fairly decent with help from fellow RX1.info members (Thanks YamablueRX1 ;)! ). Because I wanted a Warrior, but didn't order one, and couldn't find one left, I am contemplating the 136 extension option.

I'm looking for help from those who have done this already. I'm NOT looking for bashing about certain vendors or products either.

*Did you notice any problems with track tensioning, or limited suspension travel? Would you do this again? Is it worth going with extensions or should I just buy a Warrior or 136 M-10?

I simply want a consensus on what you have done, and what were the results. Keeping in mind that I plan to retain my original 121" Pro-Action  :ORC Yes, it can be setup to work quite well. Case-in-point, 97 Vmax w/updated Viper shocks. Thanks Snowman269 ;)!

I do have a response thats a little more specific to this question, and I believe that it would be beneficial to post it public.

With just a rail extension, there should be NO PROBLEMS with track tension or suspension travel. The problem I ran into was with regard to the 4" suspension RELOCATION needed to achieve a lower approach angle.

If I was to do it over again, I would go straight to an ExpertX144 skid.

Since you're only going the equivalent of a Warrior, rails will suffice. You need 7.5" extensions.

Extension Kits.

Groomed Trail riding
I would go with the rail extensions only and not a relocate. The ride becomes too harsh with the relocation.

Boon docking and ditch banging
If you are going to be riding in a lot of deep snow, the relocation works good.

I have Tracks USA rail extensions, and am quite happy with them. I also used the MPI tunnel ext. I feel it is a nicer looking piece than the hartman. JMHO

I agree with Powerhaulic on the extensions, both rail and tunnel

Thanks for the help guys ;)!

Keep it comin.

i stretched mine out to 136 this year. better ride more flotation in deep snow. noticed it pushed more in corners so i added c and a's for more bite and tightened the limiters . i used tracks usa exts. as they also extend the slides, not just move the axel back like others. i put on a warrior tunnel ext., strong and perfect fit, but there are some nice looking aftermarket ones out there. the sled rides more level now on the lakes in deep snow, as opposed to nose up on the shortys.

I also used the Tracks USA extensionsand the OEM Warrior tunnel ext. It really depends on what you are looking for. For off trail it is better and it is more stabil at high speeds. It is not as nimble in tight trails and pushes in the corners. It is also slower on top end, more rotating mass, especially with studs. I have gone to a 128" cat skid, which I hope to be the perfect skid for me.

With the proper setup, it should corner almost as well as a 121. My friend runs a Doo 700 136" (factory skid) and he loves it, and it will carve the corners just great. In fact, he was so happy with it, another friend of ours just went to 136" extensions on his MXZ700 (not Rev) and loves it, and it carves corners great. They both love the way it absorbs the stutter bumps and smooths out closely spaced moguls, not to mention the increased traction. When I need a new track I'm going to 136" extensions on my Cat skid.

Isn't it amazing how many skeptics there are over having longer rails?

"It'll never turn as good as a shorty" <-- thats what they say about mine.

LMAO. BS.

As your friends experience, "carves corners just great". As a 136 corners "almost" as well as a 121, and mine has the same length of rails as a 136, the fact that my rails are *further back* increases the leverage so that it corners every bit as well as a 121.

(now just watch, someone is about to chip in and disagree having never ridden anything longer than 121)

I just put in the "almost" to cover myself. I hadn't had enough seat time on either of those sleds myself to give a really good comparison of before and after, but the owners say they corner just as well. If I keep my sled I'll have a true educated opinion...just have other things to go through first.

Much thanks to all for your replies ;)! :rocks:

I've decided to go with Tracks USA rail ext. and MPI's "Warrior Update Kit" At least that's what they called it when I asked for the tunnel extension w/o rail ext's.
