Any Attakers find a useful storage bag for the rear shelf?

That platform in the back looks like it's begging for a flat storage bag. I'm aware of the available handlebar and underhood bags...they look like they work well. But I'm curious if Yamaha makes, or if anyone has found, a suitable (and obviously pretty waterproof) bag that'll sit on that back shelf. Obviously without melting from exhaust and/or interfering with the taillamp.

Thanks again!

I think you need to be careful with the " shelf on the attak".

I agree it looks like it is a great place to store something on a long ride but I'd worry about anything heavy. Wouln't want that long moment arm and weight bending the "shelf"--- I think the warning sticker mentions something about weight also. Just a thought-- hate to see damage.

I gues it would also dpend on how hard you ride and hit the bumps.

Good luck I'll watch this thread. to see if the guys have ideas.

Nothing heavy, I'm thinking a change of clothes for a 1 or 2 night cross-country tour...10 lbs max? I can't imagine the tunnel extension would be harmed by that, especially since it supports the rear bumper, which is ued to lift and pull the weight of the sled all the time.

Flyerrrs....where does that RX1 bag fit on your Apex? Apex doesn't even have the "shelf" (tunnel extension is a much better term) that I'm asking about. So I assume yours sits up on the top of the seat above the taillamp? If so, that's not my preferrred location for active boondocking, I'd kick it all the time when jumping between running boards. That's always been my objection to saddle bags and most trunk bags. But a bag mounted down low below the exhaust pipes I could work around real easy.

Regardless, thanks for the suggestion!

I hope dar6ren doesn't mind...I stole this picture from him as it gives an absolutely perfect visual of the area I'm talking about. Just to eliminate any confusion.

Incidentally, dar6ren, I LOVE the decal you put there....but I'm thinking I'd cover it up with the perfect bag...

Just wondering if the exhaust blowing over the bag would cause your clothes to smell of exhaust and fuel? If not.... go for it!!!
For me, with exhaust odor saturating my clothing....they'd smell just like flowers! MMMMMMmmmmmm :D

I'm surprised Yamaha doesn't offer a bag for this location (or if they do, I don't know about it). I'm sure the aftermarkets will come up with something before long if Yamaha doesn't do it themselves.
