I know this is the wrong forum but I had no luck getting a reply over on the RX1 forum. And this forum seems to have the most traffic, I assume alot of you Apex riders came from RX1's.
I have the chance to purchase a 2003 RX1 MT or a 2004 RX1 MT, Both sleds are next to new condition with very low mileage and the exact same price to the cent. The 2003 has about 300 miles less than the 2004 and the 2003 is about 2 hours closer to my town. I know neither is that great in the handling department, but did the 2004 get any upgrades over the 2003 that would make it worth my while getting?? Both sleds are a steal with the 2003 having just 1000 miles on it and stored inside it's entire life, the 2004 the same, mint. I'm just buying the sled as a backup and thought it would be cool to try a 4 stroke as i've never owned one. A new 4 stroke is a big possiblity for me in the next year or two. Any help would be greatly appreciated-Thanks

I would definately get the 04. Im not sure what all the changes were but I know there were a couple. I think each piston got an extra ring in 04 over the 03's and maybe some other engine upgrades. The 03 was the first year so im sure there were more changes, hopefully someone will chime in and help ya out a little more.. IMO The 04 is definately worth getting over the 03...

There shouldn't be too many differences between the two. I think the big changes were in 2005 (rear skid?)
One thing to look at is whether or not they have the rear heat exchanger upgrade done.
There were also a few recalls/updates (Float bowls) make sure those are done.
Other cheap mods:
Holtzman carb springs
MPI Transfer kit
Punch out the track and run Extroverts
Powder Pro (or updated Yamaha) Skis

Piston rings made from a different material, float bowls (this one is important) to avoid starving for fuel climbing a steep incline, straight rate front end springs.
