Anyone ever stud an ice ripper? 1" or 1.25? too many ch

I know it sounds kind of crazy but my ripsaw threw a double backer through the heat exchanger yesterday so i'm on the market for a replacement track. I was contemplating an ice ripper xt but i'm not sure it's going to satisfy my traction needs. Always had studded sleds and don't think they perform equally. If i was not satisfied just wondering if it could be studded? Is it single ply?

I was also thinking about a 1" hacksaw or predator. Any thoughts?
 
Have the Ice Ripper XT on my Attak. We have a lot of plowed icy logging roads in our trail system right now, & feel totally secure with it. Doesn't hook up as well as my studded track did but it is everything, & more, than I hoped it would. Quieter, smoother, safe & no ripped out studs. I will never stud again, I think Iceripper is the only way to go.
 
I studded my old style ice ripper last year.... put 2 dbls in every other lug with the built in studs, it flat out hooks up good now! rode it all last year and this year, with no problems....
 
Why not just get another track and stud it. Ice ripper is more expensive. You are paying for the studs in the iceripper, then buying more studs and installing them. Now the studs in the ripper are not contacting the surface. Just a thought.
 
The ice ripper tracks are single ply and even on the track it says not to stud them.

If you are looking for out of the hole traction on ice, then the ice ripper is not for you. If you are looking at extra grip in the corners and braking, then go with the ice ripper.

I don't think I'll go back to studding a track again, too much work and maintenance and worries. It's the ice ripper for me.

I'm kind of in transition with the out of the hole traction. I used to like to go to the lake and race but also like to trail ride and you simply can't be competitive racing with a trail set up and i'm not willing to re-calibrate my suspension for a half day on the lake. The thoughts still linger there.

As for studding vs. ice ripper i'm tired of worrying about tearing out sruds/vibration/destrying wheels/is the track tight enough etc... I'm thinking it may be a good alternative to conventional studs. Cost wise the ripper is more but when considering the cost and time to install studs it comes out close enough in the end to not concern me.
 
The Iceripper XT is my favorite track to date. I ran it for over 2200 miles on my Attak and have run it for over 1000 miles on on my Ski-Doo turbo XR1200. Still looks new!

Its not going to be a drag track but don't tell my Ski-Doo that. Easing into the throttle spinning under boost and it pulls away from everything anyway! Its getting a workout under the turbo and doing just great. no worries of studs puncturing the exchangers or ballooning track exploding with all the weight of conventional studs slinging around. Also no cords cut from conventional stud holes. Single ply for less weight does fine without conventional studs.

I JUST CHANGE MY ICE RIPPER AFTER 5000 MILES THE CLIPS WERE ALL FALLING OFF WORE TO THIN PUT A NEW ICE RIPPER ON I HAVE NOT DAMAGED ANY WHEELS IN THE LAST 2 YEARS, ALSO SICK OF STUDS. IT SEEMS A TOUCH FASTER ALSO. I PUT THE 2.86 PITCH WITH THE DOO DRIVERS WORKS. ICE DRAG TRACK IT IS NOT BUT FEEL SAFE WHEN RIDDING HARD ALSO. MY 2 CENTS JEFF

I had the exact opinion before I changed mine to the Ripper XT, and I'm very happy with it's performance.
 
I bought my Apex RTX used and it has an Ice Ripper on it. The sled has only 2400 miles on it and most the carbide tips are all broken off. I think they are of poor quality to be all gone already not impressed. Now it is just a 1 1/4" ripsaw...... :o|

You must have the old dull stud original version. Its impossible to break the studs on an Iceripper. The lugs would rip off first. The Iceripper XT is the sharp stud version.
 
I have about 1800 miles on mine on a 800 doo. Almost all of those miles were in South West Lower of Michigan (which means a lot of road ridin) and only two studs look anything close to warn. Best track I have used to date but don't know how it would handle the steep and deep. If they made it in a 144" I would have it on my Attak in a heartbeat. As far as price I bought mine for under $500. Hard to buy a track and picks for that.
 
I'm already turning 11,000rpm with a 1.25 ripsaw and 144 studs. Will i have to add tip weight if i change to a ice ripper?
 
1500 miles on my Ice Ripper, looks perfect.

Over 5000 miles on a Ice Claw, one of the first to come out. Its missing some of the little studs and the lugs are getting a little rounded but its still in decent shape.
