I blew a head gasket yesterday, 10 miles from the truck coming down the trail. Buddy following me passed me to let me know something was wrong. There was so much white smoke I couldnt see a thing. Coolant bottle was empty so I assumed head gasket. Talked to the guy who put it together, 2 gaskets to reduce compression, he claims there has never been a failure that he is aware of. Says he will probably put 3 head gaskets in when he fixes it. Is this do-able? Will they mate and seal? or might I be in for another embarrassing tow from a Polaris?

Rod.....Stacking the gaskets is common. 2 is very succesfull and i know a couple guys who have 3 without troubles. I probably wouldn't stack 3 though........get a cometic .065 and you should be good to go.

well the one that comes in the mcx kit gave me nothing but trouble .would leak only when warm and under boost. The guys at Valley took her a part 2 times to check and retork and both time leaked .SO went with 3 yammi`s stacked. All ok.
I use two stock gaskets with no problem but whats with the latest version?
Is it one realy thick or what?
I´ve heard that one thick is better than two stocks,(same total dimension ofcourse).
Any comments?

I have used the one thick one, 2 versions for 1900 miles with no issues. I believe they are now available in 3 versions. .054. .06? & .07?.
head gaskets
The Cometics .065" one has a rivit on the front left side that could obstruck the oil gallery hole so best to remove that rivit.
drilled out that one and have no probs

Lower compression means more boost!

Ordered a .051 gasket so I didnt have to chance stacking two yamaha's and 10 mins into the motor running the POS is leaking antifreeze. I COULD right now! I know my mechanic double and triple check all the torque specs and went exactly by the manual. I even told him to go over the gasket with a microscope and compare it to the stock before he put it in.
Anyone????

I had that exact same problem . The one that came with the kit was crap. First run out noticed it leaking. Took it back in and it would only leak when warm and under boost. Took it all apart (dealer that is)checked the gasgket carefully and it looked fine.So put it back in and took special care of torqueing. Guess what it still leaked next trip out. Took it back took it all apart again then came the hassel of trying to get another one. Who is responsible for all this extra work because of a faulty product etc. In the end went with 3 yamaha ones to get me back out asap.So far so good but only have one run under her belt with the stackers thanks to the rain
