i bent my sway bar linkage and realy dont feel like spending 60 bucks on a new one. i ride realy whoped unevan trails from side to side most of the time. also they are pretty twisty and not very often groomed. i have a 08 rtx i was wondering would i run into handeling problems by removing the sway bar and adding some pressuer to my floats to stiffen them up a little. any one else remove theirs?

I don't know how to set the floats to handle the ride without the sway bar, but I removed mine on my '07 FX. You generally need about a 40% higher spring rate to compensate for the lack of a sway bar. With my FX I was able to just barely get what I needed out of the stock shocks, but it's not the way I'm going to keep it. I had to tighten the spring preload all the way as tight as it would go and turn the compression up to three clicks from all the way stiff. I also had to stiffen the rebound up about four clicks from where I had it (two clicks stiffer than stock) to adjust for all the spring tension. Revalving and stiffer springs with a higher spring rate would be normally suggested. As far as setup for the floats I would have no idea. There are some advantages to this setup especially if you are riding rough trail a lot and you ride with a lot of body language or ride standing up a lot. If you primarily ride groomed trails that are flat and smooth in the corners and you sit down a lot, it will definitely not be the setup for you.

I hated the way my Mtn Lite handled with the sway bar off. Even while carving deep pow. I could feel the side I was carving on compress nearly to the bottom. On trails it was downright scary dangerous. It would compress to nearly all the way down on outside ski while turning, and stay there, while inside would be almost fully extended. Talk about tippy!
I couldn't imagine getting it to work properly without much stiffer springs, like motoman said.

most of the trails i ride pretty much look like a snowcross track whoop section. lol mogals are sometimes 3 feet deep and uneven from side to side. i might try it then decide. i can get all my revalving for free so im not worried. my boss has a snox team and hes a wonder with shocks. hes been doin the new rydefx air O 2s i dout the floaters are much different

I've had mine off on my mtn lite, and haven;t looked back
I've ridden whooped out trails, and I felt with the bar on, it wanted to buck me off, but without the bar, it was a lot more
independent.. either way running high speed whoops are hair raising for me.

Well, there you go. Complete contradictions. Just like most of the info on this forum.
Try it for yourself.
