I have tried several fo the recommended setups and still having a difficult time in the stutter bumps. Someone on HCS switched front shocks with their renegade and claims this made the sled ride considerably different.

I have the FX nyto RTX and was thinking about changing the shocks with my 2003 rev mxz sport. It seems like you manually push down on the rear of both sleds they feel about the same. The front of the NYTRO is much much stiffer than my rev even with 45 psi of pressure.

Not many of us will have a set of Doo shocks setting around to try out, but I can tell you on the std with GYTR's, the rebound clickers made a HUGE difference in the stutters and after backing them off from the crated setting, the sled actually made me grin for the first time in the bumps (small bumps) still got work to do to get it up to snuff in the nasty's but anyow.......I have heard floats are known for great stutter performance with low air pressure so assuming you already lowered your air pressure to 50-55, Im sure you could easily trade someone your floats for std GYTR's.

I tried all settings on my shocks down to 45 psi. My experience at lower pressures, it becomes very difficult to steer and hasnt solved the roughness in the stutter bumps.

The other problem is the sled sits so low at pressures under 50 lbs, that it will bottom out quite a bit.

I am not impressed at all with the fox floats so far.

how did they perform? on the bumps? stutters?

did you revalve them stiffer to compensate for the weight?

I was thinking of trying this with my RTX, I have an 06 Rev MXZ-x Race sled that I can steal the front remote resi shocks from. I looked at them side by side last night and the Rev shocks appear to be longer but I will comfirm that tonight.

I am getting more arm pump on the Nytro than I have ever before, thought that it it might be the Floats causing this... Then again it could just be more work to hang on with the crazy torque this thing makes...

I noticed the same. Dang sled is so powerful it makes my arms hurt.

I agree. If i ride the Nytro for 2 hours on even a straight path, Im exhausted. it seems like i have to hold on tight going over even relatively small bumps.

After switching to my REV, i am considerably less tired going over the same bumps. I can almost lest go of the steering bar.

Thats why I am thinking of putting my rev shocks on my Nytro.

Okay, all you guys a wierd. First of all Ski-doo uses the worst shocks in the bizz, they're totally garbage. The front X shocks are a joke. The front 440 shocks are half decent. Any other Doo shocks arn't even rebuildable. I think the Floats are great personally, they take some geating used too, but if your getting "considerably more tired" when compared to your REV, then... I don't even know what to say. This past weekend I rode back to back a Rev and my RTX. Theres is no comparison in small or large bumps. The RTX is so much nicer, the ergo's are great.

O and if any of you say I'm wrong in regards to the front piggyback X shocks being garbage. Call a reputable shock builder and ask their opinion.

My 2 cents.

I thought the GYT-R shocks on the front of the Nytro were Kayaba's, same as who makes Doo shocks. Instead, maybe they are Soki's?. Whoever makes them, I think they are pretty good as the clickers actually work and the tuning envelope is pretty wide.

waubamikrider,

HPG are actually decent quality shock ONCE a tuner gets them apart makes some changes and revalves them correctly for the rider/sled/riding style and trail conditions!

These changes don't have to be made just makes sevicing MUCH easier. It's NOT the they are "worst shocks in the Bizz" as you claim! It's that the HPGs are about as lame to service as any shock in the bussiness and there is a diffeence!! FYI the FX Nytro shocks have some of the very same lame issues as the HPGs. If your 'reputable' tunner can't make your HPGs perform well enough for 98% of all snowmachiners needs then you SHOULD send your shocks to Hygear, Carver or many others and pay them a grand for about $40 worth of parts! Or 3 grand for a new shock package! Not Knocking either of those companies!! AS you are paying for thier knowledge more than anything! And they ususally get it right the first time IF one provides them with the correct information initally.

Im not talking about the durability of the shock or even the quality. All i am talking about is the ride. My 03 rev is much much smoother on stutter bumps than my RTX. The rev shocks may not be able to be re-valved easily or last forever.

It may not even be all attributed to the front shocks. I am running out of things to try. I love the quality, the engine power, and the ride position of the NYTRO but cant live with the stiffness.

In that case, I will trade you my front shocks off of my mtx for your shocks. They are nice and soft. :tg:
