Just looking at the parts fiche and the service manual and they appear to show a different # of washers/spacers on the exterior of the chain case by the brake rotor.
Top pic is showing what I remember disassembling from my sled
2nd pic is from the Apex service manual (showing circlip, 1 spacer, then the rotor...which I know is not correct). They do not even show the spacer between the rotor and the large spacer w/ t-20 torx that sits partially recessed in chain case oil seal.
3rd picture if from the parts fiche from Yamaha's website (showing circlip, 2 washers, spacer, then rotor). Part #'s 3,7,6,& 5.
What gives? What is correct?

Now you have me second guessing myself as I currently have my brake rotor removed and I did not take any pictures during the removal thinking that I would simply look at a parts manual to confirm how everything goes back together.
My recollection is that it was assembled like shown in your first picture with the exception that I have two very thin washers (as opposed to your one thin washer) between the smaller spacer and the circlip as shown below in my pictures.
I think that if you assembled it incorrectly it would be obvious when trying to install the brake caliper with the brake rotor not centered properly between the brake pads.

Thanks Dave. The plot thickens. I even just checked the FAQ section in the Apex forum and it is showing exactlywhat I have....circlip, one washer, spacer, then rotor.
So, I have 1 washer (as per the Apex service manual), you got 2 washers, and Subaru has 3 washers (as per the parts fiche). Maybe they aren't that crucial? I just don't like the thought that something might be missing or not re-assembled properly.
PIC from FAQ Gear change write-up added.

The thin washer (or washers) behind the circlip are basically shims. I am thinking that the person building the sled uses however many that are needed to adjust for manufacturing tolerances.

Steve,
This is what mine looks like.
Didn't mind taking the picture. Gave me a chance to get the sled off the trailer and take a lap in the yard. Wife wasn't crazy about digging up the lawn though.

Thanks Boomer. So that looks like Circlip, 2 washers, spacer, than rotor.....correct?

Just tell her that you were "dethatching" the lawn. If you have studs you can tell her that you also "aerated" the lawn at the same time! LOL!

X2.. the rotor needs to be able to move laterally some. I think the washers just shim the tolerance down enough since the space left isn't much... I would say if you don't have to much excessive play your good..
