2006 Apex RTX- Riding this weekend on a base of 12-14in. packed 10 degree <> snow. I was experiancing serious (i think) its called darting. The scags are new double-rail woodys type about 100-150 miles old. The sled is running great but with the original scag darting was so bad it was tossing me all over. Now its worse. I tryed it with suspension set hard and it was real bad. Somewhat better on soft setting but still un-managble at speeds over 50 on straight runs. Short bursts were more manageable but the nose lifts so it was hard to tell if it was front or rear problem. I check the ski alignment and it was at spec. I've never noticed that before other than typical darting on groomed trails which is what I was trying to fix. Trying to reason it out myself etc.... Is it possible to have too much resistance from the double scags causing the rear to drift or fishtail?? Is that what I'm feeling??? Anyone else experiance this same condition??

Thanks for the response. I tried it. Shimmed the rear of the skis, they seem to cut better and then I reversed it..same. The limit strap is at its max now as set from the factory. Still same condition. Almost like fish-tailing the rear feels like its dancing but then it feels like its coming from the steering as the skis seem to act like groove prone darting. Weight distribution??? I played with it by adjusting the track/ride tension. Putting more weight on the track seems to improve it but still darts and fishtales. Anyone had experiance with the woodys dual rail scags causing resistance?? That seems to be the feeling. I can't believe they would make a difference on 150 hp sled. I can barely keep the front end on the ground! anyway but too much bite may be the cause of the control issue, but then the darting is still at hand. Letting air out of front shocks might put more weight on skis?? Heeeeeeeeeelp!

Read the 2 articles in the tech section (clicking on button above) making sure you are shimmed enough
Then talk to Rich Motorsports in the vendor section and get the Woodys dual bars or the dual Shaper bars.
Then problems will be solved

I just installed the Dual shaper bars by Studboy because of tracking and it took care of it. It does push some in the corners though...

Got this setup on both my Apex's. Minimal to no darting and still carves great.

maxapex,
Is your sled studded? I noticed that same issue with mine after installing Woody's Dooley's also. The rear of the sled is all over the place. I am now studding the track, so I will post results when we get more snow. I haven't messed with my limiter strap, or tranfer rod. It's still set the way it was when I bought it. I definately think the Dooley's have coused as many problems as they have cured. My mileage now sucks and the sled is squirley in the rear. I might change to different skis this summer.
