I just snapped mine 2 weeks ago on my 06 Nytro.......same spot as mentioned.......I looked and Ulmer racing offers a beefed up version( 2/10 bigger diameter) WITH Wahl drivers already pressed on......but it's $400 and I already had the Wahl drivers........oh yeah, 16k miles........

pat the rat said:curious, what year is your apex,i had asked chris reid from yamaha about this problem and if i remember right,he had told me that 2009 and up had different shaftsTLiddicoat said:Accelerating from a stop and then nothing. Thought it was a chain because there was no connection from the secondary through the chaincase to the driveshaft. Got a new chain (this is all trailside btw) got the chaincase cover off to see that the chain is finelook under the skid and see that the drive shaft snapped just inside the chaincase side bearing between the driver and tunnel as I have someone turn the secondary. Didnt see it the night before cuz it was dark.

SO___---___ Has anyone else had this problem with the shaft actually snapping? its got about 9k on it.
AND if anyone has one they are getting rid of hit me up.
Mine is an 06. I decided to get a low mileage stocker and change it in 7k. $75 sounded much better than $400, so that means I can put in 5 used ones for the price of a beefed up one. It has to come out to do the track in 4k and the bearings too so whats the difference, right?

Does this mean that when I replaced my drive shaft last year on my 06 Nytro (aka Vector) I replaced it with the same flawed unit that left me stranded last year?? I have 3600 miles on the new shaft so I should be good for another year or so![]()
I think it has a lot to do with the driver. I got about 10K miles out of the first one which is about when the Apex's start breaking them

So am I just lucky with my original one with 25,000 miles?

You should be buying lottery tickets! Replace it this summer... don't even question it!!

Just traded it this morning. Don't have to worry about it now. Time to let the old girl go. It's been a good sled.

Spring ordered a 2014 Ski-Doo 600 E-Tec Renegade X w/ quick adjust for $7600. For $350 I'll get an extra 3 yrs. bumper to bumper warranty for a total of 4 yrs.
I ride in Quebec all the time and the warranty and dealer network is much better in Quebec with Ski-Doo.
I'm planning on trading every 2 yrs. now. The extra warranty will help on selling or trading then. Wanted something different and light and fun again. A different kind of fun than the heavy Attak. Will also be doing more saddlebag trips and the gas mileage and range is nice also. Like the linQ system on them for gas and luggage.
I've had Yamahas, Cats, and polaris, but never a Ski-Doo.
Just hope I remember to put oil in it after 25,000 miles on the 4-stroke. I liked the Vipers when I rode them and 2 of my riding partners are getting them. I think I would be happy with one also.
I want to give them a year or 2 to get things sorted out. And wanted to be 'different' again.

Good luck! Is it supposed to be red or orange? Kinda hard to tell from the picture...

They call it red and it looks red in the brochure, but it's more of a burnt orange in real life.
If you put to many miles on the skidoo they willn't warranty it. This happened to a friend when the motor blew up. You will be back.

Why did you go back to a two stroke? For the miles you put on wouldn't you be better off with a 1200?
