There is a big posy on here somewhere following it through.
Basically since they have no noise DB meters and there is no baseline for what is too loud. They just charge you under section 18.2 of "SNOW MOTOR VEHICLE ACT" which states "No person shall drive or permit to be driven any motorized snow vehicle upon which any component or device which was required under the provisions of the "MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY ACT" at the time the vehicle was manufactured or imported into Canada.
In a nut shell says you cant repalce or modify exhaust if it is under provision of the Vehicle safety act.
That act is a 400 page document, there is no mention anywhere of snowmobile exhausts anywhere in that act. That is because it is not really a safety item like brakes or seat belt or childeren's seats.
Took it to court and judge has neever seen anyone challenge this ticket before inb over 13 years. People just pay it.
I now carry a copy of my ticket and the page of the the snow motor vehicle act with me to dispute them chargging me. Ask them to show you in the morotor vehicle safety act where is says you cant modify exhaust. Being its a 400 page document they dont carry a copy of this. Have seen them with the snow vehicle act though
CAnt wait to get pulled over next time. Been told Bracebridge is a bad area. Im in Dorset area and never had an issue before. My pipe has been on for 3 years so far.
