Just returned from a great trip to the U.P. and was surprised to see so many negative posts about the apex. Here's my take after 460 miles-

1: Motor is awesome
2: Hands never got cold (coldest temp was 16, 3rd setting from bottom)
3: No wheel problems of any kind (yes, I have 144 studs down middle)
4: Suspension is awesome, did bottom a few times, but I'm 220 without gear and ride very aggressively, so I'll get the bigger spring.
5: Stutter bumps all but disappear, bigger bumps are no problem.
6: Did I mention that the motor is awesome??

I agree I only have 240 miles on mine but I think it is awesome . I can get my GT to bottom on big hits . I am going to try heavy spring also but if it takes away the ride I will switch back to stock spring and live with the bottoming . This sled eats up the stutters and chop like no other sled I have ridden . It does dart fairly bad compaired to my 800 Rev from last year . I just shimmed the ski's and am going to try a set Woody's duel carbides .

How was the motor? Was it awesome? Just kidding !! Hey I just went over 400 on mine and I felt as if the warmers were becoming adequate due to running at higher RPMs. Also the motor seems to be pulling much harder as break in occurs than my RX-1. The sled is amazing isn't it? Im glad to read another post of joy getting tired of the quagmire of petty complaints showing up recently.

Happy trails :yam:

My hand warmers seem to work pretty good this weekend . It wasn't real cold about 14 at night but my hands never got cold and I could feel the grips getting warm through my gloves . I'd say they work as good as my Rev 800x from last year . Mine Apex is starting to run better at first it would only turn like 9500 rpm now with 240 miles it will pass 10000 rpm . I have never been a Yamaha guy so I was worried I might not like the Apex but I like it alot .

Ya know this is like turning your friends onto a new drink. They are all hesitant and just take a sip. then they give you that funny look that turns to a grin, next thing ya know your running back to the store for more mix.

I took 3 buddies out last week and put each on mine for 10 miles. 1 polaris, 1 cat & 1 doo all felt as if they went from yugo to ferrari and all said "no lake races this year" I said so next year? they said if they get there RTX's maybe.

Forgot to add that I had little to no darting (I'm running woody's 8" carbides). At middle speeds (40 to 60) there was just the slightest bit of darting that I'm not concerned about. How bad is the darting that everybody else is talking about?

Did you know you want it to bottom out a little on the BIG one!

All right...where are all the whiners and complainers? There sure have been a lot of pessimists on this site lately. I love my Apex, handwarmers are adequate for me (lot better than years ago when there were none!).

For all you people that are sitting at home and getting worked up into a frenzy by all the crazy postings here, GO RIDE YOUR SLED!!!!! :

Indy apex- I agree. It's so easy to get lost in all of the complaints some people are making. Everybody that hasn't yet, nees to go ride their sled and find out for themselves. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one that's happy with the apex.

Slydog- Yes, I know that bottoming is really just using the full suspension. I'll probably try maxing out the preload(10.3", right) before buying the big boy spring)

i have 470 miles now and love this sled the only thats wrong with mine is the hand warmers 90% of the time they dont work and when they come on they will melt my gloves to the bars, it handles great on the trails and off trail is as agile as ive ever ridden.... it gets 2 thumbs up

Just shy of 100 miles on my GT. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! I got off of an '03 RX1 & can't blieve the difference. I thought the suspension was perfect, I did bottom a few times but, I had all springs set to min. I was riding in ungroomed, chisel plowed fields at speeds between 30 to 90 mph. Hand wormers set at 2 clicks from off with thin gloves. No studs yet. tomorrow night maybe "SNOWING LOTS TONIGHT". Motor pulls way better than the RX1. Did I say I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT? NOT FOR SALE!
