Hey All,
This is my first season with my 2006 Apex ER. I havent ridden in 2 years but grew up around sleds and have had a modified Mach 1, and a modified ZRT 800. I am originally from upstate NY near Sacandaga and I got a chance last weekend to go back and check out the ol stomping grounds.
Coming from Boston I was relying on word of mouth to understand the conditions. I knew they had gotten dumped on snow wise a few days before my late Friday night arrival. Well Saturday morning we headed out to Sacandaga Lake and to my surprise NO tracks had been made at all! As we unloaded 2 trucks did pull into the lot though and headed out to the lake.
So basically I said, what the hell and figured it was time to see what this sled can do. I was riding with my g/f on the back and my buddy with his g/f on the back of his modified MXZ 800.
So.. How did it do??

AWESOME!

The trick of course is to get going and dont stop. We were floating on over 3 1/2 feet of powder at 55 mph with the throttle a bit more than half cracked!! When I say floating, that is the closest comparison I can make. We would be going, then hit a nice drift and get a few feet of air and then land like...well......we were in 3 1/2 feet of snow!

We broke track for most of the 5 or so miles we went from one bar to the next (Lanzi's to Sport Island) but also had the opportunity to jump into the tracks of the few guys who left the parking lot before us.

As the trip went on, we did some trail breaking and more lake breaking and the Apex handled it all with power and finesse, even 2 up! This sled is amazing and in fact did better then my buddy's Rev.

:yam:

Glad to hear you had fun and no mishaps,as you know snow on bright white snow covered lakes can pose some very troublesum problems we never see in time lol ya its always refreshing when we can do anything better than the other guys sled can do he he,so how did you like the beautiful motor of the apex, has it started to pull the proper rpms yet, that would be come out of the hole at 9800 and climb right to 10,200 than creep to 10,800-11,000 ???

I have a little over 200 miles on the sled now and the rpms have defintiely begun to climb already. I did the motoman break-in on the sled and she has run flawlessly so far. I havent studded it though, so I cant say what speeds im running yet.

The lake was definitely challenging and we blasted through some deeep drifts. My g/f could not stop laughing though, she said it was the most fun she had ever had snowmobiling. We were getting some serious air!

The constant power of this machine amazes me, I'm a believer! I am tempted however to do a rail and tunnel extension with a longer and bit more deeplugged track. I kinda like the "overkill factor."
