This might be a silly question but if i were to replace my ripsaw 136"x15 1 1/4 could i insall a 16" wide track on the same skid, in the same tunnel? If so , do you think that it would help with flotation? Is the only reason for the narrow track rotating mass? I think the Rev XP might have a ripsaw that is 136" x16 1 1/4 on it and it seems to move in the deep stuff well.

Yes you can install a 16" wide track with the same suspension. You may have some clearance issues that will need addressed. some common areas would be bolt heads, brackets, rivits. Just look and see how much clearance you have now. the 16 wide in the apex mountain has very little clearance from the factory.
Yes you will gain floation....136 square inches to be exact
You will notice it. Eric

You will gain only about 45 % of the 136 sq in because that is all that will be in the snow when off trail. the rest will be on the ends and above the skid. The 16 in track is the approx equivalant of a 144" track. U will notice the difference.

i have a 136x1.5 track on now and i had to remove the tunnel protecters but no problem with the front heat exchanger. The 1.5 ripsaw did not hold up very well on a boosted sled the lugs started to fall off the first week i had it installed maybe it was afaulty track but i never liked the ripsaw anyway just thought the 1.5 would last out good seeing it had nice thick lugs but it was crap.

If I remember right I measured and the 16 inch wide does not fit between the rear brackets on the mono suspension.
