Have a little problem that just lingers around and would like to get rid of it....Im running 15-16 psi of boost with my mcx apex..If I hit the throttle hard off the bottom it hits the rev limiter...if I roll into it its fine..

Primary
Dalton base 70 loaded up so 78 grs i guess
BWB spring

Secondary
51
purple epi cat spring
0-1

any one else have the same issue with these weights? maybe 8BU profile would be better..

is there belt spin? read the clutch if its all dull grey from the bottom of the sheeve then fades to shiney grey. you got belt spin at engagement and the first part of shift.

Check Center to center on you clutches and might want to try a smaller helix to help, just pulling straws here to help!

I don't think there is any belt slippage....but I will check the sheavs....the belts last usually 1500-2000 miles....I do have a shockwave I was going to try and run a shallower angle....

Check you buttons on the secondary, I ran a shock wave and it took out the buttons, Might be binding up causing belt slip in the primary, Also check the belt, make sure it isn't to worn.

even with a new belt on it does the same thing.....do you think its the profile of the weight? I actually not running the shockwave right now..its just a reground straight 51 helix.....I got 3500 miles on the sled and the problems always been there...just learned to live with it...I looked at the primary this morning it looks pretty clean all the way to the top...

Thanks

Could be the weight since you said it always been there, I have always had great luck with the STM weights. Also try a new primary spring, yours might be might be taking a set that isn't strong enough to hold.

I change the springs every year...anyone else have the same issue with Dalton weights?

You need a weight with more adjustability. You don,t have enuff mass down low. I use heelclickers or supertips when setting up turbo sleds. These are the only weights that will load the clutches enuff at anything over 12 pounds of boost.

so basically i need more weight at the base of the weight to put more squeeze out of the hole.....more weight on the tip will squeeze the belt towards being fully shifted right? I supose the profile has alot to do with it to.... Have you Tried the Daltons Turk? Maybe the new adjustable ones would work better....

As my previous post said...all i use are heelclickers or supertips. Tried early made daltons with no success but that was a long time ago.

I got a set of 60 gram base super tips and a set of 50/20 Heel clicker 2 speeds if you are interested. 125. per set shipped with everything.

I'm using DYPR base 70 with the largest rivets in....so 9 more grams I believe......

get rid of the rivet weights, easier to adjust the newer style. Hex wrench and washers and your done. most the time you dont even have to remove the weight to add to them. aslo just easier to put the weight where you want it. You need more in the heel to bite harder. Now the snow is getting stiffer and will need more in the heel to bite better

Did you solve this? I have the same issue...cruise at 35mph and just hit the throttle to HALF and it will hit the rev limiter....
