I found a great deal on a 2007 apex super low miles,,but it is a mountain model.
How will it do on the trails of wisconsin and michigan?

IMO:
There are lots of good deals on "flat land" Apexs...but if this Mountain sled is too good of a deal to pass up...buy it, cut the track lugs down to 1 1/4", gear it up a bit and enjoy it!

Shave the track down to 1.5" & enjoy.
Supposedly only 800 miles and $5500
So the longer track won't hurt just lugs too deep

It will push in tight corners. It is 162"....
It would ride nice on the trails for sure. Yes, just shave the lugs.

What is the problem with the longer lugs

Lubrication. It will be up too high to pick up enough snow particles, I believe 1.75 inch lug with scratchers is about as high as you want to go. Unless you're looking to attack deep snow in open areas, I would think for 5500. that you could pick up a lower mileage 136 inch Apex Attak, which would better suit your needs.

Lots of people are going with 1.75 tracks now, you'll just have to be a little more consious of your riding conditions and use a scratcher if youre in hard packed or icy conditions.
The only other thing I can think of to consider is that the MTX's have a narrower ski stance, so if your'e into the corner carving, it's going to be a bit more of a handfull. Also, just as sideshowBob said, you'll probably want to gear it up a bit as the top end on most MTX's is around 80-85 mph. I rode an MTX for a couple days last year in the U.P., and had no issues with it in stock form, and actually enjoyed how snappy it was at lower speeds. The lack of 100+mph top end wasn't an issue and would go just about anywhere!

No one needs to be zipping around on the trails at 100 mph anyway, go with this sled and go with a 1 3/4 track and never look back. I have a 144 with 2" and wish it was a shy longer just for them deep spots. Try it out first and get a feel for what it needs before you dig into upgrades.

depends on you if you want a ride that handels the bumps very well then the longer track will be nice if you want to rail the corners the longer track is going to suck. I would look for a attack for that kind of money

That tunnel is the most attractive looking tunnel the Apex ever came with. Would be awesome to use for building a MOD Sled.. Stick an Expert 144 up under there. Add a widening kit to the front. Put a lightweight seat on it with a tunnel=dump exhaust system.......awesome.
