Feedback from any former Apex/Attak riders would be great! So would any feedback from 09 RTX riders coming of anything else. I'm not into bashing bumps...but I'm thinkin' this sled will introduce a whole new "fun". Thanks!
I am getting ready for the same change. I have my 06 RTX dialed in great and I ride 90 % groomed trails. Hope I am not making a mistake, but I love the Nytro riding position.

Well, I can't see the RTX being bad on groomed trails. Lower the floats, pull the front limiter strap up a hole, widen the skis, flip the mounts and use that seating position to lean off with ease. Leaning off was something I just couldn't do well with my Apex at 6'1''. Ride my be harsh over smaller bumps but I'm going to put preload on full soft and set the comp/rebound on both rear shocks on soft (fast speed) and see what happens. Hope it works out well for you.

If you dont like freezing your A$$ off you are gonna want a taller windshield, and the dumbo ears are nice when its real cold. If your hands get cold easy, gonna want the yamaheater!
I've been saying it a lot lately, but some adjustable coupler blocks help a lot to keep the inside ski on the ground, and keep both skis on the ground when exiting a corner. Best and easiest thing I did to my rtx.

If you ride groomed trails & are a less then aggressive rider the nytro is 100% the wrong sled for you...as has been discussed to death over & over on here!

You are in for some fun, the weight difference is quite nice. The RTX will be too stiff in the small stuff. I'm going out on a limb here as my tuning of a base FX Nytro is in the early stages, but I think the the Nytro can be made into a great do it all trail sled.

I own a 09 RTX and a Fusion 700 currently and ride probably 90% groomed trails/ditches here in the midwest. After 1800 miles I can honestly say that the Nytro CAN be a great groomed trail sled. I am for the first time with my Nytro having a blast riding in the twisty stuff and not worrying about getting off into the trees. I have been adjusting and adjusting and think I am finally getting close to as good as I can be. The biggest and best changes I made were new ski's and installing adjustable coupling blocks out of my Fusion. I also switched the spacers on the ski's to get as much width as I could, pulled the limiter straps up two holes, floats at 60#, 96 megabites in center all with double backers, and went with 5/8 " ski toe out wich is allot I know but it chases zero ruts and is no longer squirrely so I'm leaving it. I am a big dude at 300 #+ and the riding position is awesome , easy to stand when you get in the rough, comfortable to sit and ride 150-200 miles per day, also easy to lean off of and ride aggressively!!! Last weekend the wind came up and the roadside ditches blew in and it was rougher then hell.It was one of those "grey days" when there was no definition, it was hard to see what was coming( thank god for my amp rose goggles). One of my buddies was following me closely watching me so he could more easily judge what he was riding into. He goes probably 170# and rides a 06 F6. He said he would watch me and I would hardly move but when he would follow he was hitting bumps so hard he was nearly getting bucked off. Said he was impressed with how my Nytro handled the rough and I honestly didn't know it was that good. My dad had a 06 Apex wich i rode occasionally and to be honest I LOVED the motor and nothing else, would sooner ride my Fusion at the time. Now with my Nytro I don't care to ride the Fusion too much, it does handle a little better the my Nytro but the Nytro is simply more comfortable to ride IMO, just as good in the big stuff and maybe a little harsher in the intermediate when rideing slow, when you ride it hard it is better in pretty much everything but the twisties. Still love the motor, easier on belts, easier on gas, no more two stroke oil or smell. Whats not to like!! I feel it is a more rounded machine then the Apex once you get the settings rite. Don't get discouraged, it took me 1500 miles to get it rite. You will probably miss triple digit speeds coming from an Apex but it pulls like a freight train on the low end, have seen 101 mph and had a little left I think but not much. I don't think you will regret your decision, my .02

Great feedback. Thanks. I have Ulmer adj. blocks coming. The best part of the Nytros I test rode...08 proto at Lake Geneva, my buddies 09 base FX and demo days xtx...was that I could sit comfortably riding casualy la de da but when I wanted to go, go, go, it was so easy to slide down off the seat low and lay into a turn and get back into postion. I'm somewhat athletic so I don't mind the extra movement. If the ride sucks on small bumps I'll revalve the shocks...or I'll just ride faster. Either way, I think you can have the best of both worlds with this sled..all day cruzing on flat trails with wife or picking up the pace with the buds over bumps all sizes. I was never a tripple digit fan. Get wrenching torque and accelleration from corner to corner - that make me smile

I'm a 25 year old construction worker/ farmer so i'm in pretty good shape at 230 pounds and over 6' tall. I could really work hard and drive my nytro fast in the tight twisties but damn it was a lot of work. Once I got those adjustable coupler blocks I could sit back and relax and take the corners like a 10k snowmobile should. It is totally amazing what only a small coupler block can do to the weight transfer! First time I adjusted them I was totally amazed. I recommend getting the coupler blocks and putting them in third setting before adjusting anything else on the sled. Since you already have them ordered you have nothing to lose. I also thought this sled would always be a handful to ride but now I think it just comes totally set up wrong from the factory and I can finally say I'm happy with it.

I couldn't agree more Sleddingfarmer, make a huge difference. I thought it may have made it a little more harsh in the small to intermediate studder bumps but its worth it in my opinion. Not sure what Ulmer charges but the Polaris ones I bought were like $40 with the mounts and then I went to a hardware store and bought a allen head bolt with a nyloc and I was in business. With the thickest part forward it took too much away in my opinion, it lost all front end lift wich I missed and it's hole shot suffered. It's a hoot to crack the throttle coming off the crossings and have a sled respond the way the Nytro does, YEEEE HAAAW!! I found the best setting for me was the third one as well, will still pull the front end easily when I want it to but the handling and cornering is much more compliant. Easily the best $40 I've spent
