New to me 17 SW, took the cover off the primary only to find one of the bolt towers broken off, and also the rollers are smoked. I think ill get a used Apex primary as I've read they're better, my questions is, I know I would need to swap the spring and weights, what about rollers? can I use the stock apex rollers? also read that I would need to add 3-4g of weight, what is the best way to do that? I am not savvy with clutching, and dont like to mess with it, I just want something reliable that I dont have to screw around with all the time as winters arent the best here. But I am in a bind cause I am missing good riding right now with needing a clutch.

I ran an RX-1 clutch for a bit on my 22 Sidewinder and the weights where pretty close to original weight. You may need a set of adjustable weight to get them perfect. Daltons are the easiest to adjust.
I believe both clutch rollers are 14.5's, may want to double check that.
Make sure you get a good used clutch, to rebuild the whole thing can get pricey.
Have you looked at a PB80 clutch? Many here have had good luck with them and they seem to be set it and forget it if you are type of guy.

Just to note I actually ran less weight in my RX-1 primary because it wasn't all warped and binding like the stock winder primary was. As for rollers, it's not a big thing, I believe I had 15 or 15.5 mm rollers in the RX-1 primary. Buddy and I had bad roller eating problems and belt blowing issues go away when going to RX-1 and old Apex primaries. We both quit even looking at the rollers and they became a non issue vs the Winder primary. I've since gone to the TAPP primary, but bud is still running the Apex primary many miles later.

I run a 12 Vector clutch on my tuned 17 Sidewinder. When I changed to that clutch, I had to add 2.4 grams to both the mid & tip positions of each weight (Heavy Hitters). I am running TP 14.8mm rollers.

Are you talking about the weights that were already in the RX1 clutch? I found an apex clutch 15 min from me in great shape, just need to get it installed tomorrow and determine what all needs to be changed overI ran an RX-1 clutch for a bit on my 22 Sidewinder and the weights where pretty close to original weight. My brother-in-law has a 0 mile 2023 Sidewinder primary that he isn't using (because he put an RX-1 clutch on) and he also lives near Hudsonville. I just don't know if he wants to sell it. Tried calling him tonight but he didn't answer.

No, I took the DTYA-1 Daltons weights right out of the Winder primary and put them in the RX-1 Primary as it is tuned.
I use an Apex primary on my SW and have since it was almost new. I use TP 14.8mm rollers and Dalton DTYA-2 weights.
ZERO issues with the Apex primary.

I think what you run for weights will depend on if it's stock or running a tune. Adjustable weights would be the ticket in my opinion. As Knappattack has mentioned the powercurve on these Winders is not peaky so that's a good thing giving you some forgiveness.New to me 17 SW, took the cover off the primary only to find one of the bolt towers broken off, and also the rollers are smoked. Got the apex primary on, 15.8 rollers, swapped over my weights which are dalton QAY 70s, engagement feels great, average peak rpm on an icy road is 9k. Is that a tad high? Running a 245 tune.
Other than that everything seems excellent!

8800-9000 is a good target RPM...these 998s aren't real fussy as long as you are in that range.

Sounds perfect for a 245 tune!
Enjoy, the rollers will last forever and longer lasting belts to boot....
