Bought a used 06 apex for my wife. The sled is in excellent condition. Problem is when I hit the gas the sled makes a clunking/knocking/vibration (very noticable) but it goes away once I get a little speed. One of my tunnel protectors is a bit loose on one side. The jackshaft is tight. If anyone has any ideas I would apreciate your imput.
The track could be jumping the sprockets.

the track seems tight, would the track still jump. I forgot to mention that the track is studded.
Did you check for ice bild up?

sled is in a heated garage, I know what your saying about ice buildup, happens with my Attak
ok what about the driveshaft and jackshaft bearings, did you check them.

I has gotten worse in the 100kms it has been driven. Thought it might have something to do with chaincase but everything seems tight and also it only happens when I give it gas.
I gess you can losen the track to see if it gets better or worse and check out your suspension to make shure everything is ok.

I just finished changing 4 idler wheels (3 on one side) + new set of slides. I thought this was part of the problem. My buddy seems to think it has to do with the tunnel protectors, one side is loose. I took the belt off and rolled the clutch back and forth and everything seems OK
You should start with fixing the tunnel protector and see if that solves the problem.

Kinda sounds like your transfer rod,as they clunk when going slow, some times you feel them worse than other times.Ranger26 said:I just finished changing 4 idler wheels (3 on one side) + new set of slides. tunnel protector
I would bet that fixing the tunnel protector would stop that noise. Had the same problem with mine . The noise drove me nuts. Had to rivet it from the top of the tunnel just under where the donuts are. Worked like a charm.

I was gunna suggest this too. Sometimes you may get a flat spot on the bottom of the belt that causes this.
Are you sure the track is tight enough. It also sounds like track may be ratcheting...

Finally found the problem, the chain was loose. Got to tighten tunnel protector and make necessary maintenance to the skid. Thanks for all the help.
