apex reverse using Boondocker Turbo!

Has any one kept the reverse while using the Boondocker Turbo?
If so any pics or details to keep it working. I read somewhere that some have adapted the parking brake cable to engage reverse. I can not find that info again, its on TY or Snowest. Any ideas would be great!!!
 

The parking brake reverse is my system. I posted those pics on the Snowest thread and I posted some on here last spring. If you need more info pm me and I'll try to help any way I can.

I have no reverse on my sled because I was all scared about breaking the chain/chaincase on 300+ hp...

Don't you think the narrower chain in a reverse chaincase have more chance of breaking under high boost?


I would like to get a reverse on mine, only scared for now!
 
Don't know about the Apex but the RX uses the same 15 wide Hyvo and I'd be surprised if the Apex didn't as well. Not sure where you heard that the narrow chain is used.
 
I just don't want to be stranded in between two 'hydro quebec' hills because of a broken chaincase.... Imagine that happening while making a full throttle hill climb... could be extremely scary
 
What I was concered about is the chain angle going around the tensioner. On apex mountain I went up one tooth and and yamaha recomends the longer chain. It will tighten enough but the big loop scares me.
 
I lost a chaincase on a skidoo summit with reverse from too long of chain so I always worry. I don't like the angle of the chain with it tightened that much.
 
I may be wrong on this but I believe Doo is still using that crappy 13 wide joke chain even in the Rev which is why so many of them break. If you own a Doo you need to be vigilant about chain tension as in check it every day or two especially when the sled is new and the chain is stretching. The 15 wide HYVO is a lot more chain than even the normal 15 wide like is found on the SRX for example. Most chain problems occur when the tension gets out of whack and the sled can get a snap on the chain before it drives the sled forward. It doesn't take much. Really small top gears can affect your chain as well due to the sharp bend < 19 teeth.
 
So the stock yammi chain with like 21-40 gearing and reverse would be no problem right?
 
That is what I don't like. The 21 -40 with the 74 chain. If you could get it together with the 72 chain then you wouldn't have the sharp bend. I tried the 22 worked fine, got 120on speedometer without holding it long. 115 with the 21 and 110 with the stock 20 tooth. Some say they got 115 with the stock.
