I reinstalled the battery and installed the headlamp pod and started the sled up after sitting all summer and I get 2 codes. It changes from 42 to 84 continually. I know the 84 is the TORS code, but I don't know what the 42 is. Even if I bypass the TORS, the codes are still there, and the engine will not rev. If I ease the throttle I can get high rpms, but if I bag it from idle it won' take it and sometimes backfires. Any ideas would be helpful, before I consult my friendly Yamaha dealer.

I beleive that has to do with your speed sensor . do a search I recall another post about the same issue.

RTX trouble codes
You were right on. I had been running the engine without a drive belt, and I don't know why the 42 code came up. The speed sensor was installed correctly. I installed a drive belt and spun the track a few times and the 42 code disappeared. After idling a few minutes, the 84 code was gone. Thanks for your prompt reply. I would imagine the computer is asking why the engine is turning over and the track is not. Similar to putting on the belt and removing the speed sensor. It knows something is wrong so it throws up the codes.
