apex se shock set up

The Air adjustment on the mega is for preload only (like a spring adjustment)...If you want a stiffer or softer ride revalve the shock.

To properly set the preload:
2011 Apex se compress 32-38mm. I put a zip tie around the "shaft" of the shock...lifted the sled up and pushed the zip tie to the top of the shock. Put all my gear on and sat on it. Then jacked it back up and measured the distance the tie moved on the shaft...set the air to get the 35mm sag. 150psi for me 220lbs with gear.

Once the preload is adjusted ride it and revalve if necessary...

There's a lot of you guys that ride groomed trails. But up around my area there's few and far between for groomed. We got the old pioneer trails that my grandma use to walk. And a lot of trail breaking. I find the best for a apex to get up and not plow is to take the limiter strap off and give it max transfer. Rear shock set at 160 psi and 65 in the front (I'm about 190-200 lbs with gear). And I ride with a mix of sleds and most of the time I can get up ontop 2 feet of snow, or get across a stretch of snow covered bulrushes with a 3 ft void under the snow better then a 136,141 or a 144. And it still handles the groomed trail pretty good with the same setup with a little rider input.
