hey guys i have an oppertunity to buy a complete rear skid from a 2007 apex with 3900miles on it for my 2003 rx1 for only $250. i was just wondering if you guys think this is a good deal or a good upgrade for the money. should i look for something better or just get that? will this bolt right in place of mine or will i need to modify. if i do need to modify what needs to be done?
thanks

go for it. thats a good price for that skid. i believe the rear mounts are the same and the front mounts need to be moved slighty, but the rivet holes are there allready there.

At that price you can even spend a few buck more and have the shocks revalved and serviced.
It's a go.

ok guys i think that the skid is from the apex gt though this one has the ohlins electronic shock. would it be better to get the skid from just the regular apex which would be a 2009 apex with a monoshock with remote adjust. i think the guy is going to sell me either skid for 250 i just want to know what is the better option for me. also i am going to pull it off so i need to know exactly what i need to take so i can swap it into my sled without having to buy any extra parts. will this be worth it or should i just do a skidoo sc3 swap

The Ohlins shock are way better than the those on the skids with RA, it's still a go, no revalve needed on the Ohlins.

If I remember it correctly all Apexes have the controls (on the handlebars) and the plug to connect to the Electronic Ohlins shock. We may have to check into this tho.

You can purchase the controller seperately. Look on here for one. I've seen guys sell them for like $50. Even with spending the extral $50 on the controller you're getting a good #*$&@ deal for the skid and the shock at $250.

On the Apex GT it's part of the switches built into the handlebars. Any other sled its a separate unit installed on the dashboard. As far as where you can find it, check the classified section on the forum. There's a few guys that sell used parts for pretty much all makes of Yamaha sleds. You might be able to find on on ebay. If you look at a dealer you might be able to get the control unit for about $100. :die
