Are Fox Floats worth the Extra Cash?

I love mine but really haven't had a chance to test one sled with and then one without. Having no bottoming out is a plus for me. I'm sure you will get lots of answers and it could also depend on your riding area. There are guys on here who have swapped them for there springs and they swear by them. Looking forward to all the opinion's on this one.

Ive had alot of good shocks on my sleds over the years including Ohlins, Ryde FX and Works, but these Floats are the nicest Ive ever had. Definetely worth the money. Absolutely love them...BBY

they made a huge differance on my warrior ,i love them, have not bottomed them yet in 1000 miles ,worth every penny to me.

Last weekend I rode rode my 07 RTX and an 06 Apex ER back to back. My floats have 70 psi in them.

I have to say I don't have anything negative to say about the 06 Apex's front end either. Both work well.

The main differences that I noticed are:

- The floats have a softer, more compliant feel until they are compressed allot.
- The floats firm up very quickly as they get compressed. When you ride through a dip at speed they are very good at smoothly handling the rise and don't bottom out.
- Because the floats are softer, they allow a lot more body roll and the sled doesn't handle quite as precisely. I added Pioneer's 13mm sway bar and this makes up for this, but the body roll still isn't much better than the stock 06 Apex ER with the stock 11mm sway bar.
- The best feature to the floats is the bottomless sensation when you hit bigger bumps or come down hard. For me the regular shocks were good enough at handling bigger bumps and I never had any problem with them bottoming out either.
- One other benefit to the floats is it's quick and easy to change the ride height if you want to. A definite benefit here is even when lowered way down (low rider style), they still don't bottom out (we spent a fair bit of time experimenting with the floats on a buddies 06 RTX last season).

Personally I don't think I would fork over the cash to upgrade to them if I had healthy Apex ER or 05 RX-1 coil overs on my sled - but I won't be selling mine either now that I've got them.

Love mine too. I would say probably the best front suspension set up i have ever ridden. 06 RTX 75 psi

I spent $700 on a set of Ohlins and they are night and day from the the Fox floats on my RTX last year, Night and day from the stock non GT shocks, night and half day difference from my wifes Attak GT front Shocks, best part is I put the stock shocks back on and put themon next years sled too.

Floats on my GT this year after riding a RTX briefly last year.
Added a little something to them. ;)!

Much better than the straight rate stock springs/shocks on the RX1. Specailly if you like to leave the ground very often.

Carver Performance out of MN had a few sets left that fit Yams at $540 when I got mine a month ago.

Just wondering if Fox Floats are a good route to go. About 50% of my riding is done off trail, 25% trail riding 25% mountains.

Dennis Clarke :die

Get a pair of $50.00 3" risers. Being an ex moto-x rider, standing seems to be the best method for absorbing the ruff stuff. :jump:
