are they joking?

Perhaps we all have a little too high of expectations, yes we have three years without a new chassis, but remember before that we had 3 consecutive years of multiple new chassis. Doo only comes out with new a new chassis every 4 to five years (I don't consider the XR "new"). I know their setup is a little different and they adjust multiple powerplants into the same chassis, but it is still tough to appreciate three new chassis in three years.

Jason what 1200 doo weighs 500 lbs? Is that full of fluids ready to ride? Ski doo claim or real world?

I'm not looking for a new chassis, but how about some kind of advances in the suspensions? These are heavy sleds, and they need a suspension that can take some abuse. We shouldn't be having center shocks splitting wide open within 1 season, yet many guys have had that problem. Also how about a 10 gallon tank for the Nytro? The 7 gallon tank is simply tough to deal with when riding 300+ miles per weekend. Simple but meaningful improvements would make it worth spending money. New graphics don't.

We are considering a a new 2012 Vector for my wife this year and then again maybe not as the 06 has 7500 trouble free miles on it. Same plugs, slides , carbides and wheels....just a battery in 6 years ! We will look at the other sleds and would change in a heartbeat if it made sense but right now Vector or Apex is the way to go. What is upsetting is listening to comments on this site from the people who bleed Yamaha and no one at Yamaha hears or addresses their concerns. There is a post on this site with at last count 173 reponses about excessive slide wear on the 2011 Apex and you guessed it....no updates to correct in 2012. The weight problem ; just like a fat lady, keeps getting heavier. IMO 2012 Yamaha is still the right choice, but that does not give them license to ignore ongoing design issues.

Anyone who is suprised that yamaha doesnt have anything new is not very familiar with Yamaha. Look at the atv world for example. The Banshee went from 1987 to 2006 with only one major change. The warrior and blaster were pretty much unchanged as long as they were produced as well. I started getting into yamaha snowmobiles in 2007 because i was sick of my arcitc cats constantly breaking down.

I understand where you are coming from and you are correct in saying that some of these things are flat out inexcusable. I guess I was referring to the "supersled" talk. I was in NO WAY saying that I think Yamaha is doing an above reproach job...

I’ve been riding Yamaha since 1988 and this winter is the third that I’m on my Nytro XTX. And the only upgrade I can think of is to a RS Venture GT. And not because the EPS but because the GT is a more comfortable sled and faster on the trails than the Nytro. I think the Nytro is a pig, heavy and with worthless suspension and it sucks to pay this amount of money for something that obviously doesn’t live up to the hype and argument used by Yamaha.

When I’m to upgrade I will do that when a true lightweight sled with good suspension will be available from Yamaha, if that is not possible when the time has come I will look elsewhere.

And speaking of weight, a magazine here in Sweden did weigh most of the 2011 sleds and the Nytro RTX and Phazer RTX are both heavy, and there are only about 20lb difference between them. In my world that means that the Phazer are way too heavy and not lightweight as Yamaha would put it. It also means that the Phazer is a good 20-30lb heavier than what the Nytro should weigh and the Phazer itself is a good 60-70lb heavier than what it should weigh.

To be honest from a sales stand point I love the line up. all we heard last year from customers was EPS vector. Yamaha gave us that and we already have ppl coming in the door to put money down. Would I have liked to see a more HP, lighter sled, sure but im also realistic and know what the majority of customer base is, its not lake racers that want the fastest most of our customers want comfort reliability and good service. We will sell the same or more sleds next year and the only Bitching I will hear will be from this site....

This should have been the end of the thread.

It blows my mind how people seem to take Yamaha's lineup as a personal insult, and talk about switching brands because they don't like this years graphics and colours.

So let me see the end of the thread should have been a post that said the base likes these sleds so let it go.

I like yamaha. I liked the 2011 I owned. But can you explain to me what's wrong with wanting a lighter package?

Also you talk about the base likes the lineup. What base? All I see on the trail is skidoo. The Yamaha base took off in 2006 and yamaha a chance to dominate. Instead they let skido make changes and take over. If skidoo comes up with a ho 4 Tec yamaha should just pack it in.

You should hear the complaints on honda atv forums about the same line-up ever new model year.Yet they are number one in sales.

The new 2012 vector LTX GT is $100(CDN) bucks cheaper next season then the 2011 version and you get EPS.Thats a step in the right direction.

Just noticed gone on the 2012 Vector ltx are the RA and GYTR shock features. Canadian price may be $100 less, but US price is $1000 more than the 2011 model.

The slide wear issue is laughable to me! Hoe many times does it have to be said that they wear quickly when new, reach a point to where it seems they stop wearing. That has been my experience and has been discussed on this site for years.

Really? That's the issue? If you want long lasting slides, buy a Polaris. If you want lightweight sled, buy a ski-doo. If you want a turbo, buy an arctic cat.

Like most "problems" this is more of a "you" issue than a Yamaha issue. When all things are considered, Yamaha builds what they believe provides the best value for their customer. If they don't produce something "YOU" like, buy from someone else that does.

Really?
