Well I slipped over to check out the new new 1000cc twin Mach Z, and let me say, that for approx 14,000.00 hard earned canadian dollars, skidoo could have slapped on a 100.00 graphics/sticker package to make the Mach a little more appealing. Only available in boring black. :cry: I guess when it blows by us 1000cc wannabees on the lake, stickers or no stickers, it will probably be just a blur anyways. Hope skidoo can do a better job at keeping this motor together than it's 800 H.O rev motor, and it's redneck cousin, the F7.
 

I just received the 2005 Snowmobiler mag and it states that Ski Doo "claims" :roll: the HP to be at 165HP. If it's like Yamaha's claim of 145HP on the stock RX-1, this may not be accurate.

I'm sure it will be fast but a two cylinder 1000cc two-stroke, I think I'll pass. Love my four stroke. 8). One thing I thought was cool was that it has two injectors per cylinder; a small and a large one. The small one is only used at lower RPMs and then at higher RPMs, they are both used. What I didn't think was cool was the fact that electric start was not a standard option; especially at $10,500 US. :shock:
 
You have to realize something about hoursepower: it is very much subject to altitude. You go up to 8000 feet, and a stock RX1 will only make about ~90 hp. At low altitudes, it DOES make what is claimed. Other manufacturers HAVE been known to lie severely about horsepower. At 900 feet altitude, T660, which is claimed to make 110 hp makes only 72 - thats 2/3 of what is advertised.
 
That is a huge power loss LB (T660). I don't think that twin 1K will be very fast when it's seized on the side of the trail. I am not even slightly tempted to buy one, the fuel & oil consumption must be terrible and it probably smells really bad too. I don't like to bash manufacturer's but it seems like Ski-doo is going backwards when it comes to technology. The SDI is good but it would better (smoother) as a triple. Just my non-expert opinion. :) Hopefully people buying these things don't have too much engine trouble especially when paying 10K USD. Maybe S-D should spend some R&D funds on a 4-stroke that is somewhat powerfull.
 
LB why do you keep posting that 72 HP bull, if it is that hp than so are the 600 twins that it will run with. While a lot of your postings are very valuable and informative the others are getting tiresome and boring.

Heres the thing though. For $10500 or even $10000 (ski doo dealers have this odd sense that they need almost sticker on all their sleds) why not just pick up a new RX-1 for 7800 or so and turbo it? Or to be at the same price pick up a vector and turbo it.
 
I like and think the Mach Z will be a great sled. But I am going to ride my RX turbo again next year. This sled will really bring a smile to your face :D
 
My buddy has been calling around to order one.

I heard they are sold out already.

I also heard that they are only producing 1000 of them.

Just some gossip.
 
At first glance

Buddy had a new 03 Blair Morgan 800 HO Rev this year. It put more on miles being towed by my Warrior than on it's own.
There are a lot of issues with the Rev. (Handling is not one of them)
Frustrated with it he has traded it in on a 1000 Mack Z. This was the only way he could get any sort of a deal. Wanted a warrior but could not get any trade in value with Yamaha dealers.

Next season I am getting a decal made for windshield "Larry,s Towing Service" His name is Larry by the way.

Buddy with Supertrax has ridden one and it is "scarry quick"

For me the oil, fuel and milage issues----no way.
 
The mach z looks really cool and I'm sure will be the stock top speed king but isn't there more to snowmobiling than top speed?..... No I just didn't like being forced to turbo!Can't wait to surprise my first mach with the rx turbo!
 
I think the Mach will handle like my 03 ZR900 and on the trails the torque made it a handful especially if clutched. You just could not ease into anything, just a little trottle and it was a monster, now on the lakes it was awesome but not on trails. That is why I sold it.

While the market is small for these monsters their credibility leads others to buy the smaller ones from that manufacturer due to the publicity.

Doo ain't about to fall back into 2nd place in sales. You have to give them credit their marketing group has caught everybody else sleeping the last two years.

I think the OL Genesis will be a handfull in the staights (note that I didn't say trails).
I just got back from a trip with my buddy with a 98 trail ported (fast) machZ. This was our first ride together this year. When he had the motor work done last year it dynoed in the 160's. We never got a chance to line them up but I can tell you that when we would hammer it from a start I would gain on him :D He always led cause he knew where the hell we were going :lol:

My Warrior now has almost 1,000 miles with stock clutching and freddies K&N kit.

PS I averaged 16.5 mpg's to his 9 :D
