My new Attak GT will be at the dealers next week, and I am planning to make some changes to it prior to delivery.
I am about 300# all suited up, and ride mostly groomed trails in NY and Canada, with a little lake running thrown in. I ride fairly fast, but not overly agressive. My last sled was a Warrior, not studded, with Simmons skis and 6" carbides. I really liked the sled, but the stearing was hard, and it tended to push through corners at higher speeds. I'm hoping to make this sled easier steering, and track better in corners.
So far I have ordered the Big Boy spring, and intend to have the shock re- valved, probably by Pioneer Performance.
I will be purchasing a set of Sly Dog trail skis with ski savers and 6" Bergstrom triple points, Power Madd hand guards with mirrors, and probably a 4th wheel kit. I will also be adjusting the anti freeze for the proper mixture and adding water wetter.
I would really appreciate any comments or suggestions as to what I am doing. Am I on the right track? Are there alternatives I should consider, or additional changes I should be making? I'd really like to get this sled set up right the first time.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a 320 pound buddy with a 06 Attak. Didn,t need the big boy spring. On clip #3 position he never bottomed out.

How about riding it first and save your money for more beers
, try not to get caught up in all the aftermarket hype lets face it your on a Yamaha if you were on a cat or poo you need all that xtra crap.

Never needed any of that suspension "crap" on my cats or doos.
Best to go with the heavier spring than go with clip in 3rd position, gives you far more adjustability.
Doubt Yamaha will make the same mistake with the anti-freeze again.
You may want to go with the powder pros with the Attak and maybe 4" carbides, speak with SRXSPEC.
Powermadd guards/mirrors are a great addition.

Lee F, Sounds like you are on the right track, Any after market ski is better then stock , and updating the shock spring, and adding the wheel kit is helpful, Not always needed but if you want it for the piece of mind then go for it. I always stud my machines ( don't know why, but I do) If I would've bought another new sled this year I would've gone the same way you did. Good Luck

Lee F, I think you are on the right track with everything but the skis. Nothing wrong with Slydog's, but I think you should ride the sled first before swapping out the skis. I would install some different carbides and you must shim the skis to reduce the darting. Last season I ran the stock Yamaha skis with Bergstrom carbides and I was pretty happy with this setup, enough so that I opted not to install aftermarket skis.
I would also go with the big boy spring given your weight. I'm 185 without gear and I could occasionally bottom the suspension. I have heard really good things about the big boy spring from those that have installed it.
Why do you want to install the 4th wheel kit?

I agree with the last two post.. GET THE SKIS,, And the big boy spring..
The GT is not the same as the standard,, you cannot adjust it as much ..

Thanks for all the comments. I'll let you all know exactly what I end up getting done, and how it all worked out, once I get it on snow.
