Hey all
Just thought this was rather interesting. Im putting on my Studboy 9" shaper bars on the Attak and I decided to take a picture of the stock bar when compared to the shaper bar. Just a slight difference!, lol
So if any of you guys wonder why the attak doesnt steer well, its due to the complete lack of carbide!
Also, snaped the rear stud on the shaper bar when torquing down, so have to get that welded up! So dont overtighten these bad boys!

You likely snapped the stud because of Paint on the threads. Anytime you put on aftermarket carbides you should wire wheel the studs so they dont twist off on ya.

I just put a set of 6" Dooley's on my GT, but haven't ridden it yet. I did notice that the skis sit alot higher and the plate the bars are on doesn't fit into the grove as well as I'd hoped. They do have very thick bars, and I didn't have any trouble torquing them down. I may re-tighten after a first ride though.

Hope the shaper bars get you steering but if they dont stop wasting money on bars and just pony up for aftermarket skis..... i picked up slydog powderhounds for 350.00 and sold the used stockers for 147.50 on ebay! Best mod ever...like a different sled with the good skis..... the heavy front end needs more floatation than the stock skis can provide for proper handling in my opinion.....
p.s. using bergstrom triple 8" on mine and loving them!!!!!

Use your weak hand for the last turn or two when tightening things like that.

I just put a set of slightly used 6" Woody's I had from the RX-1, on the GT. I also shimmed the skis. I noticed absolutely NO darting and push is very minimal.

I have not shimmed my ski's (yes i know it is not an apex or attak) or changed my ski's and its so easy to steer and no darting its so freaking prefect. lol

I went to shim my GT the other day and I noticed the front of the carbide is already up enough to make its own path rather then darting. So I didn't bother with shimming. I've never ridden with the shaper bars yet. I hear its a good setup on the Apex. I hope to get out soon. I'm waiting for my shock to come back.
