He has different thicknesses you can choose from. They make the bottom of my ski look like a slydog with the winged keel. Anyway I think they would work with any carbide you choose. Good Luck.

I ran the studboy duece bars last year and they were horrible for me. Steering effort was increased to the point of major irritation..... They grab like you have brakes on the skis.... I would not reccomend them at all. I just purchased Slydog powderhounds (got a nice deal from Jamie at slydog. ) and am trying Scott Bergstrom's triple 8" bars w/savers. I am excited just looking at these skis and they arent even on yet. They are WIDE!!!!!!! With a heavy front end like the Attak the stock ski is just unacceptable in my opinion.... with the stock skis it sinks like a mack truck no matter what you do in powder......and the keel is just too old school compared to newer designs... Great sled with horrible skis......
p.s. I just sent my duece bars into scott for his website. After 500 miles they are half wasted!!!!!!

Just installed the powderhounds today. Super easy and great fit. No shimming needed. More importantly I actually got to see the junk i was riding on last season.
1. The keel is tapered and rounded on corners. (Not a Hi-Performance design)
2. The taper of the keel is so wide at the base that you are literally trying to float this above average weight sled on two 18inch strips of plastic 1.5 inches wide with no lips to even try and trap some snow...... take a good look at the wear pattern on the bottom of your stock skis and you will see what i mean.
Shame on Yamaha for supplying a musclesled with this ski and shame on me for not realizing how bad the ski design was before wasting money and buying new carbides.....
p.s. Anyone want to buy a nice set of stock apex skis. 1000 miles and ready to plow. I will throw in the stock 4 inch carbides to sweeten the deal.

I have Powderhounds on mine and couldn't agree more with the above statement. Now if only I could ride them to see how they work in real life on my Attak...
Mine are boring black all the way through...I've never been the flashy type myself...maybe 'cuz I'm old as dirt...
I went full bore on the Powderhounds and installed them with Bergstrom triple point carbides and ski savers. Did not install the free Bergstrom shims as I agree fully with you that there appears to be no need for them.
Sold my OEM skis on Ebay...never even tried to ride with them.

I ride with a pile of rev boys and they are all tricked out...I had to do something to the looks so i can halfway fit in.....

Those are some sweet looking skis, and like how they can be wide, and not look kind of funny, like the wide yamaha ones do. They arent as blunt in the front end.
Could the difference in reviews from them being really good, and soem being really bad concerning the deuces and doolys be int he suspension adjustments, like sit in and rear suspension adjustments? I can understand the dual carbides having more "bite" than the single carbides for obvious reasons, then you get everything accociated with that, such as the duallies not pivoting over a central pivot point when turning, unlike the single runners, which means it would be harder to steer a double runner when compared to a single.

I am a big dude 6' 4" 325 dressed. Also we ride 200 miles per day plus usually. I have to have a ski that turns easy due to the fact that I ride with a ski doo rev guys on pilots and precisions which are easy steering sleds. I came off a rev and the attak just steered like a tank with the duece bars versus my rev and the other guys revs. The stock carbides were fine for steering effort as long as you dont mind hitting trees once in while.....
I will say the duece bars did carve much better and i did play with the adjustments enough to be yelled at more then once by the riding buddies.....
My experience was just that to get the stock skis and the dueces to steer required way to much steering pressure and pressure on the skis......
I believe it is the ski at fault and not the carbides that are used. With 168 studs and my large body on that big sled I need some bite in the turns. The keel of the stock ski is just weak period....in my opinion.
Also as a sled designed to play in the powder a bit according to Yamaha why would they put a ski with such little surface area on it on a big heavy sled like the attak.
We rode the grand marais airport field last year in 18 inches of powder and I was eating so much snow at 75 mph that it was just plain embarrasing. The stock skis will not get on top of the snow no matter what you do.....they just cant and to me that means they are junk....just my opinion......If these powderhounds dont get on top of the snow I guess i am sol.......

The wider skis will help a little, but the Attak is not a great deep snow sled. The track approach angle is too steep for the lenght and weight of this unit. However the Attak will do many other things very will and will cause you to overlook it's deep snow inabilities and still like the sled overall.monsterattak said:I am a big dude 6' 4" 325 dressed. I agree it is not a top performer by any means off trail due to its weight and tendency to sink and rut in the powder.... But I am talking about getting the front end to stay on top of even a groomed trail with six inches of powder..... The stock skis wont even do that.....
I think the attak will love 6-12 inches of powder with flotation in the front end...... but agreed it will still sink like the titanic in the deep stuff......

So are you guys saying that if I wanted to trip across a lake in 100% fresh powder, lets say at least 12", then the sled wouldnt be able to stay on top and you wouldnt be able to go very fast across and you would be all full of snow? Big attraction for me is the Attak's power, like my venture across the deepest snow pinned will only do 60km/h or so.

I was running stock skis last year and although it has the power to run hard in the powder my nickname became "Frosty" after riding the powder.... head to toe covered in snow after riding 18 inches of powder.....
I believe the powderhounds will help tremendously especially after I had a chance to see the bottoms of the stock skis....they are a joke!!!!
Either way the attak will eat the venture. I drove past my one buddies 700 viper like he was parked even while i was eating snow sandwiches.....
Ideally the attak likes about 6 inches of fluff on a hard base trail and with those conditions it just plain hauls the mail..... 12 inches of powder is fine and 18 will work but i would hesitate to go too much deeper with it because digging this thing out is no joke...it took four of us to get it out of a 4 ft deep snow bank i tried to drive through.....
p.s. to me it really seemed like if i could have gotten the front end to stay up and quit trenching i could have done much better in the powder......
