A group of us rode to the Yamafest at the Vikings on Chautauqua Lake yesterday. Rode the trails for awhile until they got pretty muddy & rocky. About 1:00 the first sled headed out on the lake. Next thing you know, there's probably 15 sleds out racing and having a goodtime, trying not to tick off the ice fisherman. I wasn't too keen to ride the lake, so I let a couple friends take my Attak out. One of them had a video phone, and kept it on the speedo - the Attak topped out at 127 on the Dream-o-meter.

Anyway, I finally decided I'd try the lake. After a few runs, I came back in and all my buddies were leaving. My wife & I decided to have something to eat. About then, a trailer pulls in & guys unload their sleds, one being a new Mach Z. Got to talking with the guy, and we decided to take tham on the lake & run them. Did a slow run first to get the Mach warmed up, then we did a rolling start at ~ 15MPH. The Attak & the Mach stayed together to about 50, then he pulled about two sled lengths ahead. At ~ 90, the Mach stopped pulling away, and we ran even until we topped out at 123 on the Attak Dream-o-meter.

We stopped & traded sleds. Ran two more times, same result each time. It seems the Mach has a bit more grunt in the mid range, but the sleds are even at bottom & top ends. Oh yeah, the Mach was reading about 120 on top end, so it appears the 'Doo speedo is as overstated as the Attak speedo.

I would have thought the Mach would have done better on the top end with 20 more HP.

My Attak has 1800 miles, so it's well broken in, and he said the Mach had 4-5 hours on it. Maybe his "Chip" wasn't burned in?

It was warm mid afternoon, probably low 40's, and I didn't have any overheating or hyfax problems on the lake.

Yes it is the chip. I believe it retards the timing for about 100 miles. I was with 2 Machs while the chip burned out. Why ignore the truth, and reality, to bash another brand?

well 5 hours is more then 100 miles, unless he was doing less then 20 miles an hour on average the whole time it was running

The lake is still frozen ???? I can't believe it, it's been so f'n warm. Can't believe the trails had anything on them either. Yamaha was supposed to be there with some 07 sleds, did you see anything?

That mach must not have been broke in because my fathers 05 Mach with 06 updateds blows my RTX out of the water. Im 170lbs and my father is 225lbs, when his mach was stock he would pull away after about 200ft and countinue to pull. Now he has a cluch kit, hi comp heads and crank shop pipe, there is nothing i can do to touch his sled. The thing lifts the skis 2-3ft in the air on take offs!!! Just allitle info from a newbie.

^ How many miles on your RTX? 4 strokes can be good for another roughly 3% in power after 500 to 1000 miles, that would make for a noticable difference.

RTXtreme with head's and pipe he should eat your lunch. Put a good clutch kit in and drop your top gear to a 23 tooth and dial in enough transfer to get a good hole shot and maybe even sit ahead a bit if on good hard pack and then line up with a stock or even clutched Mach and you will be surprised. I ran a 05 with updates and $1,500 worth of clutches and track dyno time and ran ski to ski till 80 to 90 MPH and then he slowly pulled away. This Mach was puting 90 HP to the track. Not bashing just fact's, These four strokes are quick if working properly. kviper

I raced my buddy on his 06 Mach Z with my 04 Warrior with performance enhancements (no Turbo, SC, or NOS) on a long straight away up in La Tuque, Quebec.
His Mach Z was broken in! He weighs 160, I weigh 215 and his Mach is about 50 lbs lighter than my Warrior.
We where ski tip to ski tip up to about 100 MPH where he started gaining inches, by the time we had to shut down he gained about a sled length :tg:

This Warrior runs real strong :die

I didn't know they had hour meters. Maybe the time estimate was incorrect. I'm not certain about the amount of miles before burn-out.

The mach vs apex stock to stock is a close race, the mach has 20hp more stock than the apex, but it doesnt show it till about 90mph when the machs top end power takes over. Every time i ran i had my transfer maxed out. I plan on gettin a clutch kit and see how it does from there.

We got lots of snow Wednesday. I took the day off Thursday & rode from Bemus to Corry, Pa with a side trip to French Creek. Guys in French Creek said the snow went away closer to the lake. Chautauqua Lake is open water in the lower half, but I guess the ice is OK north of Long Point - we were riding all afternoon.

No '07's, they brought in 5 or 6 '06's for folks to ride.

I saw you out there racing. From shore it looked like you took him.

There was a lot of talk about some dumb a$$ with his cell phone. I don't think I'd lend him my $10,000 ride anytime soon.

i love this topic, i just came from a 05 mach and know you have to pull 125 plus to top end one that runs good. not many apex or attak's pull those numbers YET!!!
