Lately when I really get on the gas for awhile and then let off completely sometimes the throttle will not respond for a moment and there is a loud backfire, any ideas???

I'm fighting what sounds like the same kind of problem.....

Might be some ideas for you to look at in that post.
Mine's intermittent, so it makes it hard to track down.
I still suspect something electrical.

Mine is intermittent as well. I will check the TORS, that sounds interesting. Also someone wrote to check the air box, mine is kind of hard to get on and seems to come off easy if I am not careful. I wonder if one or more of my carbs are not all the way seated inthe air box boots???? I think that is a bad design. I'll have to check.

exhaust donuts
I'd get a pop evrytime I let off the gas after WOT, turned out it was my exhaust donuts were totally gone and one y pipe had the flared end broken, got some y pipes off an 03 and new gaskets and no more pop.

Hey MIDWAY:
Could you put your sled model and year in your signature. That would help us narrow things down, when we are thinkin' about these kinds of things.

Well bypassed my tors and it runs like a top. No backfire or bog. Could be my tors switch.

You may want to consider either making the right TORS adjustment or replacing the switch, if that is what is needed to make the system work. TORS is a throttle safey system designed to protect you and others should the throttle cable freeze. Believe me, they do freeze, and it is not pretty. Especially, if you are in a confined area and don't have time to open the hood and pull back the throttle while running down the road at 80 Mph. This has happened to me on a ZR.
