A few weeks ago I decided to purchase the 8" Bergstrom Triples (Q18-TP8) for my RS Venture. This was the recommended choice from Scott Bergstrom after discussing my riding.

The other day I test rode my new triples & it made a world of difference. These carbides felt like I was riding on railway tracks. So easy to turn, no darting, steering on pavement for a short while was effortless, just a huge A+ in my book.

Anybody with the Yamaha RS Venture looking at new carbides I highly recommend the Bergstrom Triples.

Did you use the shims and ski savers as well?

Glad to hear you like them ;)!

Yes, installed ski savers & shims as well. Truly made an amazing difference. Turning is effortless, almost like power steering.

I rode a friends Arctic Cat which had 6" triples & loved it. When Scott recommended 8" for my sled I was a little hesitant, thinking 8" might be too much....I was wrong. I called Scott the next day to give him my report.

Highly recommended product!

I was too, so I am glad to hear the 8" ones work great.

Just curious, did you use the thick or thinner shims and savers and did you test/try both before deciding on your final set-up?

Thanks ;)!

Irv, I installed the thick ski savers (3/8") & shims. It is said that the thicker the ski savers are the less darting occurs, plus it's what Scott recommended. Also, I test rode the thick ones on a friends sled (he had the 6" triples) so I knew what to expect. Hope this helps.

Looks like your ski saver is wider than the ski keel - might that cause it to hook in objects, etc? I have the 8" triple points as well and it turns fine except the skis are a bit washy in loose snow but that is not a carbide issue.

Mine are as well with my Curve skis, but the replies I received all said not to worry about it as they don't interfere with anything.

I haven't installed mine yet but will give a report once I can get some decent miles on them.

The ski saver essentially makes the keel wider in return prevents darting by not following others grooves because the ski savers are wider than most stock keels.

Last season I put on 500 miles with a pair of 6" triples (ski savers & shims) and this year around 150 miles with 8" triples. The difference between Bergstroms & Woody's were night & day. Woody's certainly makes a great product, but for my application I'm glad I made the investment on Bergstroms. The product also has a proven record on lasting longer, you truly get your moneys worth.

Maybe there is an advantage to the saver being wider as it should catch snow and have more bite when turning. I asked because I have the 7" Utility ski and the ski saver fits flush with the keel on mine.
