what is the best battery to get cold cranking amps wise ? i do not care about the weight I'd put a deep Cycle marine battery on the back of the tunnel if that's what it takes to get it to fire up like my old 2005 Vector, Which with about 10k miles and a 12 year old battery still starts better than the Viper :o|

I see even Wall-mart has some AGM ones but I don't know if they're any good. I searched the forums and everyone seemed to be recommend light weight batteries that shaved a few pounds ? who cares what it weighs eat a salad instead of a burger LOL I just want it to freakin start

I’ll be watching this thread because I’m in the same boat......err.....sled.....err.....you get what I mean!!
I bought one for my wife’s attack a couple years ago from Canadian Tire that cranks and starts that sled over extremely fast but I can’t remember which one was and I have been putting it off tearing it apart to check what it is because it’s a job I hate doing that job.

Interstate agm was 140 cad at the local cat dealer.i have pigtails from the battery and plug in 4 amp charger about half hour before I go out in cold weather or it won't start.

Edit: Didn't realize I was posting in Viper section so some of my comments do not apply. Not sure if there's an equivalent version of the Legend that can be used in the Viper.

I'll prefix my next statement to state I am a firm believer of using a trickle charger like the Battery Tender Jr. during the off season. Although I have never had any issues with any of the Yuasa batteries I have owned in both jet skis and snowmobiles, I've recently switched to AGM type batteries. Went with MotoBatt for the Sno Scoot and Napa Legends for the RX-1 and now the 08 Apex. I haven't had any issues with cold starting with the stock Yuasa batteries I previously ran or these new AGM ones but do know that guys have switched to the larger CCA version of the Yusaa battery for those hard to start cold situations. I believe you just have to remove/not use those protective pads that are used in conjunction with the battery cover.

those sleds all start much easier then the Viper as long as the relay doesnt freeze

I would really look at your starter if you are having starting issues. The stock ones have been known to drag causing starting problems. Acts like a weak battery. They will drag for a long time--years before crapping out. I had new one put in a Viper I used to own and have never seen it turn over so fast. it had to be dragging for 2 years before it went out on trip we were on.
Get an aftermarket one, far cheaper and work just as well or better.

I see my Sam's club has duracell powersports batteries. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I run the Car Quest AGM batteries I have had good luck with them. Ran them in both of my nytros and now the viper and haven’t had any issues with them yet.
