best mods to make soon

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to do some riding in the U.P. Saturday. We rode 135 miles in a variety of conditions from snirt to 16" of powder. I have several new mods and here are my opinion and the results.

1. White Knuckle Exhaust.......Nice tone but after about an hour of riding my ears we're ringing. It's too loud for me and it has to go.

2. Pilot Skis.......very slight hunting, great in the corners and fair in the powder. Highly recommended.

3. 40 tooth lower gear, white secondary spring and CR10EK Plugs........It's hard to tell which of the three made the best performance increase. It may be a combination of all of them but the sled no longer has the slight bog when pinning it at around 30 mph like it used to and it's as snappy as a 2 stroke and pulls way harder then stock. It's like riding a different sled; it really does run that much better. I went up against a 06 Attak and at a 30 roll I walked away.

4. Re-valve Rear Shock.......Best $50 I’ve spent. No bottoming at all while maintaining the smooth ride it had before the re-valve. Highly recommended.

5. Updated Handlebars........they are worse then the stockers. I have the Mid height windshield and at 11 degrees my fingers were cold with the warmers set on High. I’m putting the old bars back on. I did the washer mod at the end of last year and that greatly improved the performance of the 06 warmers. My opinion......don't bother, do the washer mod to the old bars.

6. Fixed Secondary.........hard to tell what if any improvement it made.

7. Rear Heat Exchanger................I never did have the temp light come on yet but there are two reasons I installed it. Increased cooling and to eliminate the ice build-up under the exhaust area.. No ice after 135 miles. Highly recommended.

8. I also added the Ulmer anti-rub kit and the 07 Snow Flap.........both seem to work great.

Above is from a earlier post of mine, hope it helps

MANDATORY FIXES:
Pioneer rear shock re-valve 89.00 w/big spring if you weigh more than 200lbs.
Ulmer track anti rub kit. 25.00
Picks,,,,144 at least.
Bergstroms skegs and shims/ski-savers if you plan on using stock ski's.
SLP Anti-wear pads.
Polaris or Doo wheels if the stockers start shredding.

Nice to have mods.
Ulmer clutch kit, or some derivitive, or white secondary spring with 40 tooth lower gear.
Windage plates.
Primary machining.
07 GT windshield
X-tra heat exchanger

studs, if you want them or if you plan on changing the clutching

get somthing done to front skis or replace with aftermarket skis, many opinions as to which skis/mods to stock are the best, but I think most will agree that anything is an upgrade.

Ulmer's track anti-rub kit, probably a must if you stud

alternitive to SLP wear pads is the Yamaha marginal snow wheels, if your like me and like the engine braking but want to increase slide life

skid plate if you go off trail

Just my opinion of the first upgrades I would do

If you want to mod for best HP for buck....RAM AIR was the single most thing that made mine wake up...lots of other things will help too but IMO ram air is the one thing which cost me very little to make myself.

pilot skis is a huge one too....I jumped on my buds 07 rtx and omg, those yammie skis are a joke!

where do you get the prefilter fabric??

Why did you only cut out the bulging areas?

in my designing stages I felt the prefilter fabric truly needed support,as its simply to thin to have any structure of its own...I didnt want to add any grating material like FIX did with their kit...

So i felt I had to LEAVE some plastic material on the box lid,to help support the material fabric....you surely can take more or less material....however i felt removing the two hi spots(louvers) would works well, and yeild the same amount of air intake as FIXs kit..which was tested to work well.....
